Co Q - my fs has me on 400mg/day. It's been shown to improve fertility in mice (1 study). Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell, and many are found in human eggs, and since co q is thought to be a mitochondrial nutrient, it is thought that taking co q might improve egg quality. There is no current evidence that it does any harm.

How are you today after your scan of the eggcellent eight? xx
Wishing you all the best for this time round!
I dont have a clue what my estrogen is. Note to self to find out!!
Dont you feel we should all come out of this IVF journey with a mini medical certificate or something? - sooo much information out there; eastern/western medicines, the abbreviations, the studies, the stories...
Acupuncture has many positive result stories around it - and I'm heading off tomorrow for my second session with a woman who seems to really know her stuff. She also spoke of acupuncture before and after implantation day. I also throw in a weekly lymphatic drainage massage (not around the ovaries etc when Oing evidently). Bought an ovulation predictor kit (OPK) and used it to do the "baby dance" this week. Interesting to see the positive smiley face on CD26..!!?? Eating heaps of green leafies (cooked) and eggs -on advice of acupuncturist. Vitamins Co-Enzyme Q10 (with added Vit E), Fish Oils by Bioceuticals, folic, vit D3, aaaaand go to the gym a couple of times a week. My FS is all good with this. I forgot to add - no bare feet anymore ( I love walking barefoot with my dogs on the beach - cheap pedicure!!) And keep warm in general.
Off to google Effie now. One of the(many) reasons I joined the forum is 'coz I love a good story. (Can't get better than a "Walt Disney Style Happy Ending!)
So scan didn't go so well today, there are still 8 eggs, however only 3 have grown to the size required for EPU. And my estrogen level is only 3400 so that is right for the 3 eggs that have grown. Nurse thought if level was over 5000 that they may have pushed EPU out until Monday in the hope that another 2 small ones would grow, but due to the estrogen levels we are going to pick up Friday. Trigger all done, so now just have to wait to see if they fertilize. Biscotti71 - with all those vitamins you would think your body would be growing some very healthy eggs, so good luck with your next cycle. Goodluck girls
Two recFSH preparations with slightly different carbohydrate compositions are currently on the market, follitropin α (Gonal-F®; Ares Serono, Geneva, Switzerland) and follitropin β (Puregon®; NV Organon, Oss, the Netherlands). It has been proposed that differences in the isoform profiles of the two recFSH preparations could influence their clinical effectiveness (de Leeuw et al., 1996; Olijve et al., 1996; Shoham and Insler, 1996). However, information about the possible superiority of one or the other is still under debate.
MrsErinR, congratulations on being PUPO! Well done to your donor, sounds like you could have a whole footy team of bubs in the freezer!
GnH, Biscotti, hello and welcome! Biscotti, best wishes for your EPU and for a quick recovery afterwards.
Kelly, I've used both Gonal F and Puregon in my cycles, and there hasn't been much of a difference in terms of follicles or egg numbers. My FS did do one trial cycle with Elonva and I got a few more on that, but ended up quite ill after that, so I didn't want to use it again. TeamPanda who posted here about her journey, recently had her bub at 43.
Faithandhopelove, hello and welcome! Hope this cycle works out much better
Butterfly, Em, TeamPanda, Bertie, Chiefsgirl and anyone else reading along
AFM - still on a break, we've finally moved into our new place and are surrounded by a forest of boxes. Finally back online with a dodgy mobile connection, still waiting for our internet to be properly connected
Hey lovelies, just popping in to cheer you all on. Congrats Erin on being pupils; what an awesome haul of embies you have!
Well it's been a tough week. I got very down in the dumps there & had to increase my anti-depressants just to cover me. I'm bummed that we cannot afford to go again but think that I will book an appt with our FS anyway. Just as a kind of WTF went wrong debrief. Figure it might help me have some closure. Regretting that I didn't go with my gut & cancel the cycle when we had so few follies; especially today when the nearly $10k was charged to our credit card. DH has been awesome, although I've coped a bit better since I explained to him that him saying "at least we have DS" doesn't actually take away the grief or the heartache that I'll never have another or give DS a sibling, so could he please stop saying it. Today was the first day I've started to feel a bit normal; hope it continues.
Lots of love to everyone. Xx
May I join this thread please? I'm 43 1\2 yes old and DH is 48, we have a beautiful DS who turned 4 yesterday! And hoping for just one more darling bub to complete our family. My story so far goes like this: After trying for 2 1\2 years DS born 11/06/2010. Then EP - 03/03/2012. They removed my RH fellopian tube. Dr.s sent us away despite request to join IVF program. Finally after 12 months of BFN they referred us to IVF. Started in Mar 2014. They harvested 6 eggs but only 3 were fert. And only one made it to be transfered on the 05/04/. Got a BFP and carried to 8w +3 then was diagnosed with missed M/C 18/5 and then had a D&C 20/5
We restart new IVF cycle in July if all goes well. Feeling a bit battered, but trying to get back in to positive frame of mind.
