arrives (next week also). Actually I think I might be the oldest in this group, anyone else 43? Apart from the fab Helsbaby on my other thread who is also 43 and currently 22 weeks preg (from her 4th cycle).
Hi @Kelly70, we are in the same boat aren't we? and age wise I'll be 43 in a couple of weeks too.
What drugs are you taking this round?
Mine are synarel, puregon 450, luveris, ovidrel - AMH is 3.9.
Can't wait to see how we go this try..

(Woohoo, it's so encouraging to hear Helsbaby getting her miracle at our "old age" as I've not heard too many success stories thus far - though I'm sure there are some more to come!!)🎉

Hey Biscotti71, your amh is really good for this age, mine is less than 1. I fell preg naturally by mistake 18 months ago, right on my 42nd birthday. I miscarried at 11 weeks but it gives me some hope despite my almost nil amh.

Why was your first cycle cancelled? I was on 350iu gonal f (antagonist cycle) and had a poor response (2 follicles). This next cycle I expect I will be on 450iu gonal f, just waiting on my phone apt this week with my FS.

Wonder what the difference in the drugs is for us older chicks - gonal f vs puregon?

I saw my GP before this cycle to see what she recommended (she is keen on alternative medicine and supplements). She ordered some blood tests and sent me to a naturopath and an acupuncturist. They didn't recommend the hgh or dhea but I may give them a try next round (if this one doesn't work) The naturopath recommended bone broths which is basically slow cooked meals where you add some apple cider vinegar to get more nutrients out of the bones. Hopefully the extra nurients help my eggies along.
The blood tests showed high copper and inflamatory markers so now Im taking zinc (which pushes the copper out of the body as well as the usual multi vitamins and IFolic. High copper also makes you anxious and on edge so I have found it very worthwhile to take! Interestingly the GP thinks the high copper came about from drinking Roibos tea. I started drinking that to reduce my caffeine levels. Chocolate also has high levels of copper! I think we have enough to be anxious about without other things going wrong. I mention this because I saw your post about valium. I definitely feel better taking the zinc and my last blood test showed the levels are coming down.
Todays scan showed 18 follicles! I hope this is a good sign although collection has been pushed back two days as they are still too small.

Sorry to hear you had your 42 birthday baby M/C @Kelly70. It's a truly terrible thing to start becoming acquainted with life inside you and then lose that baby & hope. Thirteen years ago I had a stillborn baby at 29 weeks and I believe the grief is real for us Mummas whether 11 or 29 weeks and equally for women who lose their fertility and are also left with empty arms.
As for us IVFers - as long as there's some AMH lurking there we have eggs in the nest... and only one is needed to make a bubba
My cycle was cancelled same as yours (only 2 follies). Using elonva, orgalutran,
    Puregon last time.
Hmmmm. Not sure about the diff between gonalf & puregon... I will be asking about that.
Good luck with phone appt with FS this week.✨
(Sorry about the kooky typing - I'm using my phone and I have ten thumbs!!)

Are you getting close to EPU yet and will you transfer one or more?
Good luck with everything and hope you get lovely quality eggs. 😃

EPU should be on Friday. I have asked to transfer 2 this time around. The clinic seemed a little reluctant but this being cycle 3 they have agreed.
18 does sound good but it seems like the ladies with low numbers get better quality eggs. I am staying positive though. I have been over at the baby center site looking up 40 and older mom's which makes me think that it is not only possible but probable we will all be mum's one day. Plus I personally know two people who have had babies over 40. One had her second at 45.

    Hi ladies

We have 1 expanded blast on board, and apparently 20 blasts going in the freezer. Insane. Totally insane.

Anyway, thanks so much for listening to all my stories here from Cape Town. It's been good for me to get them out to people who understand.

Good luck to those of you cycling right now or preparing for it.

    X

MrsErin.... firstly congrats on being PUPO, but yes, that's absolutely amazing - 20 blasties!!! I've read of yound women getting lots of eggs at pick-up, but they still drop off, so it's fabulous that quality of your donor's eggs. We'll all be wanting her next time :-)) Anyhow, how this one you've got on board works the trick. Good luck xx

    Hi Girls
I can’t get on very often to post, but I do read everythingyou post so am up to date on where you are all up too….
For those that haven’t had cycles go so well, I really feelfor you, but keep trying, you all have such strength. MCGBertie, I know youhave spent a lot on this dream of yours, but as it was so well pointed out, people waste so much money on other things not so important. I hope you keeptrying for your dream.
Faithandhopellove – 18 eggs that is great, we will be on EPU together. Best of luck. And go for2 to be transferred! I got my DS with two eggs transferred.
Biscotti71 and Kelly70 – Keep trying, my best friend alwaysreminds me of Effie (the actress) who went through like 20 cycles of IVF andfinally got her baby.
I have had an up and down cycle this time, after very lowestrogen levels (1089) and only 6 small eggs last Friday I was all set on thecycle being cancelled, but yesterdays ultrasound and estrogen levels (3100) wasmuch better, looks like I have 8 eggs growing well, and my estrogen levels werebetter than expected. And am feelingvery heavy on my abdomen so think they are growing : )
So ultrasound tomorrow and then EPU on Friday and then spendingthe rest of the weekend, with everything crossed that the eggs fertilize andkeep growing…
I have been doing a bit of research and I have found that alot of info points to acupuncture being good for fertility….not only for thosedoing IVF with their own eggs but also for those using DE. I have found someone who specialises infertility acupuncture and she said that acupuncture on implantation day canreally help. I also asked about improving number of eggs collected and qualityand she said yes to that too, and apparently its fast working….so depending onwhat happens with this cycle I am going to see her. I can’t believe I amthinking of more needles but will do what ever it takes. She also suggestedtaking Co-enzyme Q10 300mg daily. Wemake this naturally but as we get older not so much.
Would like to hear if any of your ladies have any info to add to this.
Also my FS isn't keen on increasing Gonal f past 300iu, he doesn't seem to think it improve the eggs, but some of you are going to 450iu, so what does your FS say about this ?
And what is AMH ? youwould think this being my 5th cycle I would know ! GnH xxx
