    hi gals
just thought id pop in and update you on advances of fibroid surgery.
they can now embolise the fibroids... a non invasive proceedure that takes 30min in a private radiology lab..they use techniques similar to egg pick up. it means no operative proceedure, no uterine scars and super fast healing.
as the proceedure is considered day surgery your heath insurance usually covers it. your gp can do the referral.

emski... woohoo on 2 hatching blasts...now we wait for twins !!!! have a winein the next few days..it helps with blood supply and uterine relaxation. waz swears by it..lol.

twocam great to hear from you..I sent you a pm.

mrserin...glad you have made the decision to go to capetown... a nice jan baby for you!!!

blondein brisvagus..alot of those blast studies came from the embryologists at my donor clinic in the usa...they are quite renowed for their research.

myheart.. i did donor eggs in the usa..feel free to pm me and pick my brains.. total cycle cost is $17,000... with a 75% success rate. i also had a fabulous holiday..with a trip to disney world...worth every penny.

Yes MrsErin, my surgeon was extremely skilled and had written a book about fibroids... youre right he actually used a new technique called 'morcellation' to get it out, which is a clever machine that spirals into the fibroid and cuts it up, inside, kind of like peeling an apple, and that's how they get it out. The surgeon did warn me that they may have to convert to open laparotomy, however he managed to do it laparoscopic, which I was quite relieved about, as I was left with only 3 small scars, which have all but disappeared. Mine was probably a bit more accessible as it was completely filling the uterine cavity and he was able to come down onto the top of it to get it out. It was borderline though, and I couldn't believe how *^%# painful it was after.

twocam - yes I am dreading that possibility of growing fibroids as I have some smaller ones left in the walls which we really do not want to go back in after, as they are not affecting the uterine cavity, but which could cause issue later if, like yours, they grew, which is a definite possibility. Also makes me twitchy about growth hormone having these lumps. I'm so happy that your bubba hatched out ok, you must be really thrilled - congratulations and well done.

micca thanks for the info re embolisation and UsA donor eggs, which FS/clinic did you see? Was that US dollars or Aussie. I must say I'm pretty keen on the USA, Im pretty familiar with it, after all the travelling ive done there snowboarding, although there seem to be a heap of girls getting UTD in SA thread right now.

Myheart I would look at all options but if your budget allows, the USA I would have a high degree of confidence in. I'm tempted to go to Dr Sher in Vegas. Has anyone been to him before ? I thought someone in this thread had, last year?

emski I guess it's just u and me in the 2ww - and maybe vix soon?

@BlondeinBrisvegas, so funny you jumped on here, before my last cycle I was researching other ivf protocols and stumbled upon the aaecp (I think that's right) thread and read it from start to just after you got your bfp, so I feel like I know you already! I wanted to jump on to say congrats but thought you might think it weird, so CONGRATS!

Yay for being pupo emski! Nothing to do now but wait!

Twocam, so happy things are going well.

MrsErinR, so glad you are getting the ball rolling with de.

    Hi to everyone else.

AFM- complete and utter meltdown last night with DH. Over the most stupidest of things, but have been feeling so overwhelmed with this bl**dy lucrin and him doing night shifts which leaves me completely alone doing everything - he doesn't even unload the darn dishwasher, so he got it with both barrels last night poor thing, it doesn't help that he is madly trying to get our deck finished and our floorboards sorted in the house so someone can come and stain and polish them while we are away at Easter, but seriously men can do more than one thing surely? I'm also not sure he's been taking all his supplements so will go batsh@t at him if our fert rates are bad!

I think someone mentioned melatonin? I got 5mg melatonin from the us. I got two bottles for 45 including express courier and had no problems getting it through customs. The first time I took it it knocked me out (but I hadn't been sleeping properly) but it's all good now.

This is my first cycle with immune therapy so I'm equally nervous about whether it will work and also that I take everything at the right time, I've got it in a spreadsheet, but I'm double checking it every day! The demons are in the back of my head saying that's its not really immune related that's stopping me, it's just that I'm old, with old eggs.

Butterfly- 150 gonal f? Wow! I take 450 and the most eggs I have got is 6. I've asked my FS for menopur, liver is and she said no, but I think I'll push for a change if this doesn't work.

Sorry for the me post, it's a down day today.

    Best of luck Emski! PUPO!!

Chiefsgirl - you really made me laugh We all say "poor DH" at some point when he cops a bollocking over something - me included! Couple of weeks ago I was dishing up a right bollocking to my DH ... and yet it never happens more than once every three or four cycles at the absolute most. DH gets porn and a plastic cup, but in the meantime we're balancing meds collections, scans and BT's wth work committments, we're jabbing, popping tons of tablets, we've got hot flushes, headaches, hair loss, bruising from top to toe, bloating and weight gain, we're second guessing every little twinge, ache, pain etc etc etc ... I reckon our partners do ok

AFM - I just broke a filling, now I have to see if I can get into the dentist before I fly out - doh!

    Have a great week ladies!

Em, glad to hear transfer went well. Congratulations on being PUPO with twins!

Butterfly, thinking of you during the 2WW.

Chiefsgirl, I'm sorry to hear you've had a hard time.

MrsErinR, looking forward to hearing more about your DE journey.

MrsMac, best wishes for your cycle. I was sorry to read about you possibly still having a fallopian tube when you thought they'd been taken out. Hope your FS can fix it.

A special hello to leyshoja and any others cycling at the moment.

Micca, Luca, Bertie, Myheart, Octoberbaby, BiB, Twocam, Team Panda, Fingerscrossed, Vixjc and anyone else reading along.

No DH.... cooking washing and cleaning is not automatically mine - I work longer hours! And no, just because you put the robot vacuum cleaner on the last few days, that is not your share!!!

Chiefsgirl, when does your new cycle start? How exciting to be trying immune therapy. Just pred or intralipids too, or something different?

Afm - like a twit decided to do some radical landscaping today out of nowhere. I think it looks quite crap but I just had to have something new to water to keep my mind off things. I was dizzy all day, really short of breath walking up the stairs, and now my tummy seems ridiculously bloated and painful on and off. Dh yelled at me as i was supposed to be 'doing nothing' according to the dr, but I thought that was doing not much. Took my blood pressure today and it was lower than usual like 115, I might just need to drink more fluids.... As long as I can lie flat without being breathless ill be fine. I only had 4 eggs, that would go against... surely it's not ohss, and it would be too early for it to be caused by a pregnancy as I'm only 3dp3dt? Hate that ivf tummy

Haha robot vacuum cleaner, I wish! I went to the gym on sat then helped a friend move house then went to the hairdresser, when I got home I still had to help take tacks out of the floor before cooking dinner and he wondered why I was exhausted at 10pm and wanted to sleep-little wonder I lost this plot!

Butterfly' I'm cycling now, on lucrin and start gonal f on wed. I'm taking prednisolone, doxycycline, clexane, extra progesterone and intralipids for immune alongside ivf cycle, so start pred tmw, not looking forward to that, I hear insomnia is a given with that, along with bloating!

I've never had ohss, but my asthma is always worse in the tww. I hope you feel better soon. Maybe up the protein and hydra lite intake just in case?

@ vixcj no!!!!!! Not what you need now, I hope you can get it fixed quickly, nothing worse than teeth issues!

Wow chiefs girl, yeah I think the pred keeps people up a bit. At least you will have bubhub for your nightly insomnia! As for our robot, Ruby (she is red) yes it's all a bit sad especially when we fight about who last turned it on .... Even more funny was when I was informed by dhs daughter that 'we should be grateful because some parents in poor countries don't even have electricity'.... Hehe

Hi to everyone reading and fingers crossed to those lucky enough to be on the 2WW !
ChiefsGirl, I'm on day 4 of gonal-f and luveris right now but on my 4th cycle we swapped to menopur, and I was unimpressed. I didn't get any more eggs than the previous cycle and that was the only time I've had a cycle cancelled (due to high progesterone!). I was on exactly the same pessaries, tablets etc as all other cycles so the higher progesterone can only have been caused by the menopur ?
Having said that, everyone reacts differently to the meds so its definitely still worth a try. This time they have pulled out all stops and put me on the mega-dose of 900 gonal-f and luveris for 2 days then down to 450 gonal-f with luveris. I thought I'd be pretty mental by now on all those hormones, but so far so good !
Another note on the luveris, my clinic got it for me on compassionate grounds from the supplier so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get it again but you may be able to get your fs to do the same for you.. EPU is next Monday so I'll let you know if the different meds make any difference to the quantity or quality.

So I had my scan this morning to check my lining is growing properly as it needs to be perfect when I fly out in 9 days time i.e. 9+mm ... Last cycle there was last minute panic all round because I wasn't responding to the meds (par for the course for me) and my lining was too thin... Was VERY stressful - they were talking about delaying the trip etc

And here we are again, after ten days on progynoca my lining is even worse than last time. I suspected it might be although I was hopng for different. tHe new clinica had me in a lower dose than loast time with a graduated increase. I was taking 2 extra tabs a day just because I didn't have faith the low dose they prescribed would work for me (why is it that Doctor's don't listen to what the patients KNOW about their own bodies!?!?) ... and it seems I was right.
So my Doc here thinks that maybe I should use Oestrogen patches, a friend who also has trouble with her lining said the patches didn't do much for her. She has some spare viagra I can use but I don't know how I'll react to that either. I figure if 16 progynova per day worked last time, why can't I take 16 this time? (I've been taking 8 for the last few days based on the graduated program). I don't have time for 'maybe'. I've got 9 days. Last trip we were going to be in Athens for 3 weeks and the donor was only selected at the last minute so there was time for the lining to improve once I got there. This time there isn't time for that.

So I've decided to take the dose that worked last time. I've written to the clinic to ask what they want me to do, but I'm taking the 16 tabs a day starting today and I'll see how it goes from there. My next scan is on Monday next week - I fly out on Wednesday.

Good news is, I got a dentist appointment for Wednesday this week ... It's a screwed up world when a dentist appointment is good news.

Hope you're having a better day today Chiefsgirl. Butterfly that robot vaccum sounds awesome! I'm a bit worried that my 25 kilo dog would be afraid of it though the big sook.

Anyone else have a partner who makes sure he/she's the last to go to bed on "change sheets day" so he/she doesn't have to make the bed??
