Needing some inspiration for easy platters / food to do for a baby shower on a budget for about 20ish people. Was thinking about 2pm so wont be lunch as such.

    So far im thinking...

    sandwiches

    fruit platter
    cheese, crackers, dip etc
    cupcakes
    lollies
    chips
    chocolate

    Any other ideas?

Mini quiche, sausage rolls, brownies, fruit, zucchini slice - afternoon tea type finger foods!

Meatballs & dipping sauce, marinated chicken wings (these are so cheap if you marinate yourself), kabana wrapped in puff pastry.

Just keep in mind the weather when catering in the heat - ie. not too many chocolate items if outside - and try to keep things like sandwiches covered with wrap or they will dry out before anyone eats them. If the shower is inside then you don't have to worry so much and is much easier to cater for.

Try to always have some low-gi or gluten free options ie. fruit, veg sticks and dip for those who can't eat other foods, whilst at the same time not over-catering. Try not to do big batches of anything - just a bit of variety.

I just had a baby shower for my sister a few weeks ago. We are notorious over caterers so I was very mindful of that as I was also on a budget.

    We had:

    Fruit platter
    Vege/cheese/dip platter
    Mini lemon meringue tarts
Mini custard and glazed fruit tarts
    Cupcakes
    Sausage rolls
and punch - lots of punch as it was hot.

Something I did at my baby shower was marshmallows on shish kebab sticks, so simple but everyone loved them. A cob loaf always goes down well. If you want some hot food a pack of sausage rolls and party pies or mini frankfurts. For a 2pm shower people would probably have eaten earlier so no need to go overboard! Sounds great with the food you have!

Sugar cookies are very cheap and easy to make. Decorate in the theme of your baby shower.
