    Default A CC Victory!

    Hi! How are you?

First of all, for those of you who DON'T choose CC as a method of settling your bub, I can understand the reasons why you don't, however, please do not critisise or judge those of us who do.

I just want to post that I had my first Controlled Comforting victory tonight! DS was obviously tired, and didn't want to be settled, so I popped him into his cot, patted him and then walked out. I let him cry for 5 minute intervals and went back in for some comforting for five minutes, and I only had to go in there 3 times!

Usually I would have to pat him to sleep, but I managed to leave while he was still awake and fidgety with which position was most comfortable for him, and haven't heard a peep since!

So yay to Xavier and yay to me!

    Good work!

Its hard work but i totally think it is worth it. My son never cries when I put him to bed now - he rolls over & is asleep by the time I get to the door. You should be proud of yourself

    Well Done!

I am also having success with CC, having only to go in 1-3 times and he's now sleeping longer in the day! I put him down tonight, he cried for 5 minutes, I went in one, walked out, he cried for about 3 minutes and fell asleep on his own! This is only day three and he is doing well

I am glad that it is working for u too!

Hello! How are you? I thought I'd just update you on how my CC is going with my DS.

Well, for the last two nights, I've only had to go in his room once to settle him, and then after I leave, he goes to sleep.

And last night, I heard him wake, but he put himself to sleep without me having to go in there and settle him, and he woke up this morning a very happy boy.

But TONIGHT I put him in his cot, walked away, and haven't heard a peep from him since!

I'm so pleased for all your successes. I too have had some great success with CC until recently. My ds was a shocking sleeper til i used this method and for a few months was fantastic, used to put himself to sleep with just a little grizzle. However, when teething hit again we got slack. When he woke in the middle of the night if i couldn't settle him easily i gave up and brought him into our bed.
    BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!
He tehn decided he wouldn't go to bed at all without us no matter what we did. He'd even fall asleep on the lounge but the moment we tried to put him in his cot he'd scream teh house down.
Well in the end i just had to CC again. Painful but worth it.
The past 2 nights he's basically cried himself to sleep but has slept all night nad woken up happy. Thank goodness
Anyway sorry for the length just thought i'd share my advocacy for CC and for all those considering it it's hard but worth it.

Thanks for posting that, Tam. I'm really glad your little man is getting the hang of solid sleep again!! We had the same thing with DD, only I didn't put her in our bed. It got to the point after about a week, we noticed she wasn't actually in pain, she was just waking up and crying out of habit, so I'd just go in and reassure her with a kiss and a pat and when she had settled walked out. Only once did she let out a little peep. The other times she went straight back to sleep.
It IS hard when they are teething isn't it? We just learned to listen for DD's type of cry. I think this is the key with CC. Know your bubs cry and only act on that, not your emotions.
