Spud good luck today... I will be thinking of you - please keep us updated! Sorry to hear about your bleed... it's not fun AT ALL bleeding through pregnancy, glad everything was ok. xx

I am doing well thank you I had a scan on Tuesday at 18wks5days and all was looking good for this stage. One measuring right on due date and the other a day earlier. 20 week scan is on the 11th of March, I think after that I will be able to start shopping / laybying. My Mum has already bought 500 nappies - there's one month sorted haha

Coco I am so incredibly nervous before every scan / apt it's not until I see those little heart beats that I can relax. I always thought I would just breeze through pregnancy but I think it's the most scary/stressful thing (in a beautiful way - if that makes sense!?) I am excited to know what you're having too Do you have any feelings as to what they might be?

MummaHT congratulations on 2 sweet little boys - how exciting! How old are your other boy(S)? Good luck with names!

Has anyone else started thinking names?

I think it's a myth that twin mummas feel their bubs early... I caught up with a friend yesterday who is 25wks pregnant with ID boys and she said it was 21-22 weeks before she really felt them and my chiropractor said the same thing - she had B/G twins. Especially if you're a first time Mum. I can't wait to feel them properly (although have one anterior placenta so they'll have to be a bit stronger) and I know once it starts the party won't stop!! haha

    Hi ladies,

    How is everyone travelling?

Coco - are u going to find out the sexes, how exciting. My DH thinks it would be funny to find out just one that way we still get a surprise.

Mumma - I agree boys names are so much harder. What are ur options so far?

JB -glad ur scan went well and all was measuring great.

AFM - scan in Melb was not so positive. They all basically said twin b has something wrong to be 2 weeks behind. As it was only dating 17 weeks we have to go back again in 2 weeks so they can see the heart and brain better. We did the harmony bt (even though out basic bloods for downs etc came bac k low risk) and we will most likely need an amnio on twin b. If it's not an abnomlity its placenta restriction and we would then need weekly monitoring. Just wish things could be easier. We worked so hard for 5 years to get here cant bare the thought of losing one or both now
sorry for the downer post. xxx

    Hi Spud,

I apologise in advance for the heap of questions and please don't feel like you have to answer them but I have been thinking about you all day since I read your post. Firstly please don't apologise for a "downer" post... this is the place for you to say what you need to - we are here for you always!

    Questions:

    - Have they completely ruled out natural conception of twin b? could this have been possible (if you know what I mean) I have read about this happening!!

    - Is twin b measuring on track for 17 weeks? How's everything with twin a going?

    - Do they really have to do amino on twin b? I ask this as there is always a risk (although low) when you do it. If they did find anything what would happen then? Would you still have carry twin b to term if there was something? If so wouldn't it just be better/safer to carry both to term? Obviously it would be nice to know exactly whats happening before hand but can't help but think that there is a perfectly good explanation for twin b being there and everything will be ok!!

Are there any other specialists you could go to for a 2nd opinion?

If you ever feel like you need a chat / support while you're in Melbourne let me know

    xx

    Hi ladies,

Hope your all doing well and your pregnacy is going smooth sailing and you can start to get excited about things!

JB - no need to apologise for the questions - im pretty much an open book and even diagnosed myself as an over sharer!!

No chance for twin b to be natural conception basically due to drugs preventing me from ovulating and then when we did DTD there were no eggs there.

We don't have to do amnio if we don't want to, basically they are covering all their bases and it's the only test to give u the most accuracy in determining if anything wrong and next course of action. It really depends on what they find, if downs we wouldn't terminate but the trisomy 18 and 13 have very low birth expectancy and can cause risks in uetro for twin a (which is dating and looking normal).

Anyways - we had our 20wk scan here at our local hospital with our great radiographer who has done all my scans even back to follicale tracking days! His report showed twin a great and the only thing he could find on twin b was a reading for slighly more fluid in brain (not the thing the other doctors were initially concerned about - his reading showed it normal for 18 weeks). basically with what he found he said if it was 'my baby i wouldn't worry'. So a much better scan than melb. Anwyays, we are back there next week adn will be interesting to see what they say now.

Thanks for all the support, i have my two best friends in melb too but always nice to know ur there who knows what is going on so thankyou for the bottom of my heart - much appreciated.

Hope everyone is going well. xx

Sending you lots of good vibes spud. I bumped into a lady who is also expecting twins and something similar is happening with her - apparently it's normal for twins to sometimes track as different sizes.

At least the sonographer sounds positive about it all. And he's the expert! Fingers crossed for you nonetheless. Xx

We are in the process of thinking of what we need to buy for the nursery. It's extremely exciting.

Also started thinking of names! I can't wait to meet these 2 little darlings! It's beginning to feel very real.

A lot of strangers have started asking when I'm due. Clearly I'm getting quite big! Feeling a little self conscious of how much bigger I'm going to get as it's only half way!

Spud I'm glad your local sonographer was helpful & reassuring! And it's definitely good news they are both measuring well for their weeks.

Coco when is your scan? I'm excited to know what you're having!! Do you have any bump pics? I'd love to see!

We had our 20 week scan yesterday and all is going nicely with our 2 little bubs such a relief! We didn't find out the sex as tempting as it was (so funny knowing that the sonographer knows and we don't!) here is a little collage of pics.

I'll post a bump pic soon.

    How is everyone going?

My bottom is so sore - muscle pain. And I'm starting to feel quite tired. Also very hungry. I'm gaining a bit of weight now. Up 8kg feeling quite big.

OMG I'm so happy for you - a boy and girl - how exciting!!! That's awesome news. Congratulations.

The average gain for twins is 15-20kgs. Don't get down on yourself - what your body is doing is amazing!! Plenty of years to lose it after bubs are born. I'm up to 5.5kgs gained (weigh myself each Monday) I lost a few KGs in the 1st trimester - took its toll in me!

When are you in for your next scan??

What does the shopping spree begin??

    Xx

I actually don't know when my next scan is. I see the OB in 2 weeks though. How about you?

We're going to start on the nursery this weekend!!! Can't wait! Start choosing paint colours. Thinking yellow and grey.

I'm also looking at getting baby shower invites online. We're planning a nappy party instead of a traditional baby shower - just asking for nappies as gifts.
