Hi JB! It's amazing there are others expecting twins in July!

I'm currently 15 weeks and EDD is 31 July 2014.

These are our first babies. Fraternal. But very unexpected! We don't have twins in the family. So not sure how that happened. But very grateful now that it did. When I found out I cried and laughed at he same time. DH was just grinning from ear to ear.

How about you? When are you due?

I haven't bought anything yet other than 4 cushie tushie mcn (they were on sale online). Oh and I bought a handful of books on twin parenting! Most seem to suggest routine is the key.

I don't want to buy anything big until after the 20 week scan. We will find out genders. then I'll buy lots of little things after our baby shower. I'm hoping to have it in late May so it gives me some time to shop.

I'm aiming for a natural birth. But I know I have to keep an open mind.

    How about you?

That is so wonderful, I think having twins will be an amazing experience (despite all those people out there who say how hard it'll be!) I'm very lucky to have a semi-retired mum 1.3kms away from us and an absolutely amazing husband who has run our house the past few months while I've felt like doing nothing!! Have you got a support network?

We had 3 miserable attempts at IVF then on our 4th cycle a miracle happened when both of them took! My grandfather was a twin and even though I know we had 2 embryos transferred I still believe something/someone out or up there was looking out for us and made it happen!

What do you think you're having? Have people been guessing? I think I'm having one of each or 2 boys, we don't be finding out though!

I'm 16wks - due July 24th. I think I'll be having a c-section but if they decide to come before that's scheduled then may attempt natural. Who knows? I'm happy with whatever is safest for the 3 of us!

Have u felt any movement yet? How's your bump developing?

We haven't bought anything really either except the rug for the nursery which we will theme the room on - it has pink, orange, red, yellow, dark & light blue, dark & light green in it so very gender neutral. I'm also hoping to have a baby shower late May, I think I worked out I'll be 32 weeks (so massive) but have to work it around my mum & SIL holidays!!

When is your 20wk scan? Have you had any others since 12wks? I've got another one on Tuesday morning, always gets me so nervous that everything is going ok but excited to see them again!

Hope you're having a nice night
    X

JB the rug sounds lovely. We're also thinking of a gender neutral nursery (yellow, grey & white).

I'm very lucky with my support network also. Mum's a nurse and wants to arrange her shifts around us. She also lives 15 mins away.

DH is also fantastic - he cooks for me and has been looking after me very well.

No movement yet for me. I really wish there was! My bump looks like a pregnancy bump! I'm getting quite big but it's all in the belly and breasts! How about you?

My 20 week scan is on 14 march. Can't wait! How are you going to keep it a surprise?! I envy that! No patience for me! I want to know what we're having now! The guys at work are playing guessing games lol

I'd love a boy and a girl. But I'd be happy with anything.

We don't have any other scans booked but when we see the OB he can do a scan. He has the past 2 times. I'm not sure if he will next time. I'm due to see him at 16 weeks

Gosh sorry for all the long posts! Are you a part of a dig?

Jess - thank you for sharing your story. I haven't read it yet but I will

    Hi coco and JB!
So lovely to hear from July twinny mums! It really is very exciting and im trying to enjoy it more and not just survive it.

Mine story is long and complicated but here goes. 5 years TTC, one MMC in 2011 at 11ks, 3 FS, countless surgeries, OI,IVF,ovarian drilling - the works! First IVF with 3rd FS we implanted two. Bleeding on and off til13weeks and weekly scans showed we lost one. Scan at 10wk showed it (twin b)was back but very small and not likely to be viable as dating 2 wks behind. We are now 16 wks with twin a and 14wks with twin b. Sent to specialist in Melb and both looking good but still early so more scans to come. EDD 24th July same as u JB!

Hope ur all well and keen to keep in touch!
    xxx

Spud... wow - what an amazing story! Who is the specialist in Melbourne you are seeing? What have they said to explain the difference in weeks of the twins, could one have been natural conception? I have heard of a few stories like that with IVF.

Coco - That's great that you have your Mum close by and a supportive DH I think we are going to need those extra hands in the beginning! It is seriously tempting to find out but neither of us have wanted to so we won't.

I am in an IVF DIG group and just joined the July DIG - is there a twin DIG anywhere? It'd be so nice to be able to bounce some ideas, talk about twin related things with other expecting twin mums!

Bump is getting bigger and boobs are slightly but not huge yet. How about you Spud - how is your bump going? I think I have felt a few tickles here and there but as my OB said when I asked him would I feel twins kicking earlier he said probably not as they still have to be strong enough to kick so still a couple of weeks to wait yet! Although everyone is different, 1 of my GF's is pregnant with 1 and felt kicks at 18wks and her husband couldn't feel anything until 26 weeks then another GF pregnant with 1 got kicks and 16wks and at 17wks her partner could feel them. Who knows... another waiting game in pregnancy!!

Spud that's quite a TTC journey. I hope both your twins arrive healthy and safe.

I can't wait to feel kicking!

My tummy feels quite full and tight. It's a little uncomfortable at night and during the day I can get lower back pain. I did have ms early on in the piece but it improved after 12-13 weeks. I think I'm a lot mire tired than other mums to be, but I still have to pinch myself - can't believe I'm having twins!!

I didn't ask, JB are your twins frat or ID?

I'm a part of the July dig but only on Facebook. I haven't heard of any twin digs. Have you?

I was induced at 39.5 weeks as I'd done a bit of research suggesting better outcomes for twinnies born by their due date (as opposed to going overdue). Also my mum was here from interstate to help out after they were born, and judging from my previous births, they would be very late if I didn't get induced. I tried EVERYTHING to go into labour, but as usual, they wanted to stay in there like all my others did!

They broke my waters in the morning- nothing happened, got syntocinon drip around lunch time, and had twin 1 (head down) 40 mins later, and twin 2 (breech) 10 mins later. By far the easiest and quickest of any of my births (they are no. 4 & 5). I had specifically said I didn't want an epidural, and although it was 'preferred' I did, they didn't push it and allowed me to make that decision for myself. Glad I didn't too, as it was so quick.

Pregnancy was uneventful apart from a very light bleed at 10 weeks (which is how we found out I was having twins).

I LOVED the first year or so, but am finding it pretty full-on now they are 19 mths old and extremely active. I'm so tired of stumbling from one disaster to another!

But in all seriousness, twinnies are amazing, I love it!

Wow Annabella your birth story sounds like a dream - as does your first year!

It's also good to hear that even though twin b was breach, that wasn't a problem.

I'm still 2 minded about an epidural. Before I knew I was having twins I really didn't want one (I'd like to be able to walk around during labour, squat & feel the contractions) but then I thought it was essential with twins and now I'm not so sure. I'll just take it as it comes and see how I go. Fingers crossed my birth story is similar an without issue.

I can appreciate running around after 2 would be hard but rewarding

Coco our twins are fraternal. I had a scan today at 16wks5days and everything is looking right on track & my cervix is behaving 😃 it's such a relief seeing those little hearts beating! It's quite amazing the details we can see already. Still so surreal seeing them on the screen moving around and not being able to feel them yet. Today I have been feeling tickles and the bubbles feeling they talk about. Can't wait for kicks!!
