Default What age for not needing before school care?

Quick question - what age do you think it's okay to drop your child off at school early (30mins before school starts) versus using the before school care facility?

I drop my kids off 30mins before school. They are in grade 2 and 4....but I did it last yr also. They sit in their line and talk to their friends.

Hi there, does your school have a specific time when the playground supervision starts? Ours starts at 8.40am and it is okay to drop the kids off then, but not before, unless they are going to before school care. The, the school bell goes at 9.10am and so they are okay to be dropped off half an hour early, but only once the supervision has started at 8.40am. Mine are in yr 1 and 2 and I drop them off at 8.40am most days, which is half an hour before school starts.

Heaps of people do it at the school my kids go to. The school makes it clear that there is no supervision until 8:45 and the kids have to sit under a shaded area and wait for the bell to ring.

It doesn't really seem worth using before school care for the sake of 30 minutes.

Before school care at my school take the kids to the school ground half an hour before school when there's a teacher on duty.

There's no playground supervision before school in the mornings at all. School starts at 8.40. I've seen kids at the school from 8 and there's a set area they're supposed to stay around if they arrive early but it's unsupervised. Before school care only release the kids when the first bell goes and DD doesn't want to go to BSC because then she won't get to chat with friends before school and will feel rushed getting to class.

When I went to school there was no before school care and playground supervision started 30mins before the bell so this is new to me.

Sounds similar to us. Our school starts at 8.30 and supervision starts at 8.15. I have 2 highschoolers and dh to drop off also so for the primary schoolers to be on time they have to be dropped off first. I'm not going to pay for bsc for 15mins! I have told the kids they are to sit in line and behave. I've never had a problem

Oh wow. That's an early start for primary. I think I would struggle to make that start time..lol

My kids school doesn't start til 9:15 so they still get half an hour of supervised play. I'm sure plenty of parents need to be off to work by 9 though, hence why many are dropped off earlier.
