    Default Baby swim classes...your experiences?

We're considering taking our girls to swim classes but it is a lot of travel for us to get there (we live rurally). So I'm wondering how worthwhile you have found these classes for under one year olds? Is it worth it? Is it worth waiting until later?

I know it's a general question as there are good and bad, but do you think your bub benefited more than what you could teach by yourself?

Learning to swim and being safe and comfortable around water is important, but given the distance you have to travel perhaps you could do something at home if you have your own pool?

My sister sent me a DVD - "waterbabies", by Little Dippers - that goes step by step showing you how to introduce your bub to water. I never got past the first chapter because we started going to a class once a week when bub turned six months. Would have gone earlier but six months was the minimum age for insurance reasons.

And during holidays, when the class wasn't on, I went a few times with bub and went through some of the steps/lessons by myself. So I reckon you could do it at home yourself.
