Default Sore tongue and gums during pregnancy

    Hey there everyone
I'm currently five weeks pregnant and the other day out if the blue I got a really sore tongue and gums.
My tongue feels exactly like it would if you burnt it and the tip of it is all bumpy but doesn't look red or anything.
The roof of my mouth and my gums are really sore and sensitive. It's quite painful to eat.
I never had this with my other pregnancies so wondering if anyone else has?
I've also pretty much lost my sense of taste.
A quick google told me some people had the same symptoms but later in pregnancy.
I'm going to OB on Wednesday so I will mention it but just wanted to know if others had experienced it, how long it lasted? What caused it? And if anything helped?

I don't know about as a pregnancy symptom, but I had the same thing over christmas and it seems that I may be allergic/sensitive to cinnamon.

    Hope it feels better soon.

Don't play with it/ run your tounge over your gums etc too much, that will only make it sore for longer.

I've heard that women need to take extra care of their teeth during pregnancy as it can affect your mouth and gums, so it might be a symptom of your pregnancy? And as for the taste, I didn't have issues with my taste last time but this time I have that metallic taste symptom called "Dysgeusia" but only on and off. Might that be a cause? Your doctor will probably know. Could you try a mild mouth wash? Or peppermint tea? That helps me when I get sore gums.

Sounds like gingivitis. Rinse and gargle with Listerine or similar it will help kill the germs

If it feels furry or is white it could be oral thrush which is painful!

Def go to the dr esp if u notice other facial symptoms.

I was just recently dignosed with bells palsy at 23 weeks so unlikely that early, but it is much more common in pregnancy - but only temporary

Dont want to scare u but thats how mine started so def get it checked out. Prob just a weird first tri pregnancy symptom x

    Thanks everyone.
I don't think it's gingivitis. I'm pretty pedantic about oral care. Gingivitis usually presents with inflammation of the gum around the tooth, whereas I have no inflammation and the sensitivity is more localised to my hard palate and tongue rather than the gums.

I had thought oral thrush? I looked at my tongue last night and it is a different colour, like a yellowy/white colour and it does look furry although it doesn't feel furry
