Default Mobile phone experts - please help !

I have changed phones and gone from an iPhone 4 to a Samsung note 3. I took out the sim card from my old iPhone and am using it in my Samsung. For some strange reason some sms from friends are showing up on the old phone and not on my new phone ! I can also reply via sms using the iPhone which has no sim. Can someone explain to me what's going on??
Just now my friend sent me a message and it came up only on my iPhone but on his phone it said the message failed delivery. So weird!!!!

Turn of the wifi on your iPhone. Or turn off the iPhone. Then it should be fine.

Go into settings, messages and turn iMessage off. Hope that sorts it.

This is a common problem with iMessage. Go into settings, then messages on the iPhone and turn iMessage off.
