Default PLEASE HELP :( growing follicles but never ovulating for yrs

I havent started fertility treatments yet.

    Can anyone shed some light.

    27yo
Only had a couple of periods since puberty
I grow follicles but dont EVER ovulate and the follicles dont produce eggs
off the pill 5 yrs with 1 period.
    Endocrinologist confirmed no PCOS
    no hormone imbalance
    normal weight -healthy/fit
I dont have pituitary issues -mri was clear

What else could be the cause of my anovulation?
    been this way since puberty.

What do you think my chances of conceiving are?
I am due to see the fertility centre in a few months....I worry that because I have ovulated so little in my life (meaning iv only had a couple of periods) and my ovaries grow follicles that never mature into eggs I worry that drugs and or what not may not work on me.

Hi bella000 - I am the same as you, although I have never had a single period naturally. I have never had my pituitary tested. Have you had your gene karyotyping done? I imagine the fertility specialist will do this.

Have your hormone levels been tracked through a cycle. Because although mine are normal at baseline, they stop rising in the lead up to ovulation, causing me to never ovulate. How do you know your follicle doesnt produce an egg?

If you have a high reserve that's a sure sign you don't ovulate, and if you do get a period doesn't necessarily mean you ovulate! I know the feeling you're having, I'm 26 and only get a period maybe once a year. My hubby and I are under going ivf atm, but I am confirmed PCO - not S because I don't have the syndrome, just everything else.

Have you considering have your insulin checked? Good luck on your journey, I hope it is a short and successful one!

Aw I have never spoken to anyone with similar problems to me, its nice to know im not alone. Did they give you a reason why you dont ovulate or havent they found out why?
Pituitary tumours can cause issues with anovulation u should have an mri if u havent already.
What is karyotyping ? I havent had that done?

No they havent been tracked throughout the month but i think thats whta the tests im about to go for are as they are 2 wks apart.

I have ultrasounds that show that my follicles grow, but dont mature healthy enough to get to the stage of making an egg. they stay really small.

Are you having difficulty conceiving? Did clomid work for you? Im worried its not going to be as suimple as taking a pill and bam i'll be pregnant.

Clomid worked for me once, then my body didn't react after that so the doctor referred us straight to ivf!

I don't ovulate because of my pcos my ovaries are polycystic in view and I get lots of little follicles but they never mature to ovulate.

You can have pcos and not many signs or symptoms, some are a bit outrageous! My symptoms are no periods, weight gain easily on my belly and I struggle to get it off, but I am not overly overweight so it's not a huge problem, fatigue, and the polycystic type ovaries. I do have trouble with hormones, they don't sit at a natural level which is why i don't ovulate and is the basis for pcos basically it's an estrogen problem.

I am not severe enough to need medication like metformin. Which can be frustrating but is also a blessing as well cos that would mean I struggle with my insulin and I have perfect insulin levels!

Ivf is for lots of different people, we are the only couple we know going through it, but there a couple of ladies on here who have no issues with their bodies but simply can not get pregnant! So it can be from one end of the spectrum to the other!

I wouldn't wish ivf on you and I really hope that you get pregnant naturally! Have you used chlomid before? I'm here for you if not! I had shocking side effects but not everyone gets them!

I don't want to scare you lol!

Hi...Clomid worked in as much as it made me ovulate, but after the first month it started making me ovulate really late (24+days) so we tried IUI with little luck. We did this in a regional town and they didnt track my bloods so I wasnt very happy. Then I decided to move to IVF after seeing an Perth FS. I am just on my fourth ivf transfer. I am having problems conceiving as you can probably see but I also have a thin lining and a lower ovarian reserve so I imagine these are also to blame. Which FS are you seeing?

i was firstly diagnosed with pcos when i was 17 after no periods for 2 yrs. they put me on the pill then i would come off it for 6 months here a yr there still no periods. went off 3 yrs ago and have had only 1 in that time. endocrinogolist then said it was a misdiagnosis coz my hormones are fine, insulin fine, and so are my ovaries, so no signs of pcos. But when i was younger i did have a hormone imbalance? Too much testosterone or something. But i am VERY fit and healthy and eat no bad carbs like EVER i have the perfect diet so is it possible with healthy eating and exercise to get rid of pcos and it not show abnormal hormones in the blood work?
Because my issue is not pcos - and my hormones are normal and everything is normal, my GP thinks I the clinic i am seeing in a few months will not try clomid, she thinks with my issues I will need IVF. :'(

What side effects did you get from clomid? Iv heard horror stories.

I am very lean and toned as I work out alot and I've heard the drugs cause MASS weight gain. That would be very frustrating for me as I've just lost 14kilos and I am tiny.
