What a crappy cycle so far
14 eggs retrieved,3 mature, 3 fertilized perfectly apparently and only 1 made it to very early blastocyst. No frosties.
I had my transfer last Wednesday cramping and nausea for the first days now nothing I'm at 7dp5dt and I've been very naughty!!! Tested everyday and you guessed it bfn's. not even a trigger BFP. Has anybody else got BFP after 7dp5dt? I'm ready to throw the towel in already!! And why do ladies have their betas tested like every 2nd day in America and we only have 2 blood tests? one on 2dp5dt and the other at 12??
    Sorry for the whinge.

Becs79. I don't get the difference either. We just have to sit back and wait. It's definitely called the two week wait over here for a reason. We do exactly that.
Hopefully that one little might is the one

Becs79 I didn't get mine until 10dp5dt. I did end up miscarrying but my first beta was normal. I don't test anymore it's too hard to deal with negatives!

I know I said we were going to switch from Pivet to another clinic but decided to stay so we don't lose any more time waiting/testing with another clinic.

So our last cycle (3rd) was a bit of a disaster, in Oct last year, we got 17 eggs, but I got OHSS (overstimulation) and was so terribly sick that I was almost glad when it resulted in a BFN (you get sicker still if its a BFP).

Of the 17 collected, 14 were mature eggs, a great result, but only 6 fertilised, and all of those succumbed. Nothing to freeze from 14 matures. And not a word as to why, just "Sorry". I was flabbergasted at the result after such a strong collection, especially as we are using ICSI, which should have taken care of the low count, etc. But we chalked it up to bad luck as we hadn't heard anything different.

It took a long time for my cycles to settle down, to stop feeling sick, for my skin breakouts to settle down and the cramping and gastro symptoms to settle down enough to even think about trying again. My husband was not keen in trying again at all, given what he had to watch me go through physically with the last cycle, but to me the alternative is worse.

Cut to now, four months later, I have only just felt well enough physically now to try again, so I made my day 21 appointment as instructed, got the internal ultrasound, then sat with the doctor to discuss the plan for the upcoming cycle and was ultimately informed that my husbands sperm has severe 28.5% DNA fragmentation... a test result they have had since the very start of treatment that they neglected to tell us about!!!! ... And he has to go on 72 days worth of multivitamin to attempt to improve the situation, before we can try another cycle.

HE COULD HAVE BEEN DOING THAT FOR A YEAR!!!!!!! OR AT LEAST SINCE THE LAST CYCLE FAILED IN OCTOBER!!!! This is the most basic of treatments!

I'm so upset at the time they have wasted for me, the lack of communication and the seeming continual incompetence of this clinic. They seem to genuinely care, but that doesn't help me when they are squandering the precious few last months of my fertility with a lack of communication and repetitive incompetence.

For the first time I am feeling like this process might not actually work and that I may never be a mum.

Oh Sharlie, I'm so sorry that your case seems to have been handled so poorly! I can't imagine the disappointment you're feeling and I feel angry on your behalf that this has happened - especially since I had such a good experience there and couldn't fault the treatment I received.

Is it the same FS you've been seeing as previous cycles? So much of this rides on the FS you end up with and it's such a luck of the draw to be placed with one whose preferred methods of testing and treatment match up with your particular issues.

It's so unusual for there to be 0% fertilization using ICSI, especially when they had such great egg numbers to work with. Now that you know this could be the result of a fairly simple issue to be overlooked, I would be tempted to write a formal letter of complaint to Pivet. I know it won't turn back those precious lost months, but at the very least it could get you extra special attention for the next cycle from senior docs and potentially some financial relief to try again.

This will be the third complaint. The last time we went in there and had a complaint session which the doctor WHICH THEY PROCESSED AS A DR APPT to claim the $$$ through medicare. It doesn't seem to have helped thus far.

I don't want to be "those" people but it looks like we will have to be.

Considering it sounds like you're going to have to wait a bit anyway Sharlie, maybe it could be worth changing clinics? If you go somewhere else they're likely to be much more receptive to hearing about your past issues and work out a good protocol for the two of you, rather than being defensive and just trying to cover their ****.

Sharlie thats poor service, I think you should switch. You'll already have a wait with the vitamins etc so switching and waiting time could be around the same.

Sorry to hear, Sharlie! How frustrating it is for the mismanagement! Like we haven't been through enough for the emotional stress. I would certainly change clinic. I didn't particular have good impression with Pivet either. They made two simple mistakes when we were their patients in a very short time. Experiences vary with individual so you just have to go with your gut feeling sometime.
