    Default Queensland pre school question

DS is three (born October 2010) and we are hoping to move from the ACT to Gold Coast this year. In the ACT he would be due to start pre school 2-3 days per week from February 2015. But I have heard its different in Queensland. Can anyone help explain the pre school/school system please? TIA!

He should start kindergarten in 2015, and prep the following year.

I *think* it's a five day fortnight if at a C&K kindergarten, with three days one week and then two days the following (my son is in kindergarten, but attends a day care centre that has a kindy approved program).

This brochure has a table that helps work out which year.

Oh and it goes Kindergarten/pre-prep, then prep (not compulsory, but I think most people partake), and then year 1.

DS2 is in the same year and Witwicky is right, 2015 for kindy and 2016 for prep.

And I'm pretty sure most if not all Kindy's are 5 day fortnights.

He'll be Kindy next year ( 5 days fortnight in non daycare usually... not compulsory) then prep the year after (full time 5 days week ... compulsory) in qld. Same cohort as my DS2

I read an article mid or possible late last year stating that it's to remain non-compulsory, i'll see if I can find it. Rather confusing!

You know what Witwicky ... I just looked up Ed Qld's site and I believe you are correct. There you go ... All this time I thought it was compulsory.
