Just come across this thread, and you are a beautiful person. Egg donation is something I am considering for once I have finished having my family. A long way off now, but something I want to do.

Wishing you all the best with EPU

Mum2 - thinking of you today and wishing you the very best. Your friend must be so excited right now. You are truly an angel.

Silentrockfaery - as an egg donor recipient, who travelled to Sth Africa after being on a donor list here for 3.5 years, all I can say is that you will give some blessed person the most wonderful gift. My life is complete with the most overwhelming sense of joy thanks to the generosity of a beautiful Sth African woman.

Pick up went smoothly and they got 16 eggs! Yay! As of yesterday 14 had fertilised and we are crossing our fingers that they are all strong little suckers. My friend will be having a 5 day blast transfer on Wednesday all things going well! So my part is officially over (for now anyway, have said I will do as many cycles as they need) and it's over to future mummy and daddy!!!

I'm so glad I stumbled on this thread. Yesterday we were advised that we would need an egg donor and just reading some comments from the recipients just made me feel so much better. It's still raw and we are not sure who / how for an egg donor but you have all made it less scary.

As for costs, I've been through 2x IVF ICSI cycles so I'm assuming the costs are the same or similar.

    Me - 31 DH - 33
    TTC 4+ years
    IVF x1 = 1ET = BFN
    ICSI x1 = 0ET

My donor egg cycle with my donor sister costs 15k at Monash IVF. I get 7k back after rebate. It's more expensive as they have to coordinate 2 cycles at once.

I'm really glad that you find the information on this thread useful. I remember being told by my specialist that I needed to start thinking of using an egg donor. I replied saying that people who do that are selfish. LOL

I love my little girl. I'm so wrapped up in her cuteness, smiles, hugs and love that I forget how she was conceived. It doesn't matter - it really, really doesn't matter. There are many ways to make a family
