Default No heart beat detected :((

    Hello everyone,

well I have been reading posts on here for a while but have never posted anything until today.....

So my story in a nut shell is I have 2 beautiful children and 12 months ago decided I would like to try for a third. After not falling pregnant in 12 months of trying I decided to check it out just to see if something was wrong. One ultrasound later they told me I had left side polycystic ovary.

I was was a little upset with that news but thought oh well these things happen and I went ahead with booking an appointment at hospital to get my ovaries cleaned out. But before I could even make it to that appointment I had fallen pregnant!!!!!

so today I was sent off to do an emergency ultrasound as I have been spotting through out my pregnancy and was given the news that my baby is only measuring 8 weeks when according to my dates I'm supposed to be 12 weeks and no heart beat was detected (((

If the baby has stopped forming, shouldn't a miscarriage occur?

Just feeling a little down at the moment but trying to stay strong for my husband and kids

I'm so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately it's what is called a missed miscarriage. It's when the body hasn't yet started the process of miscarrying after the baby has passed. With some pregnancies there can be some time before the body starts to move on.

I hope you can get some closure soon.

I forgot to say - if there has been some time and the body hasn't moved on they will prefer to intervene to help move things along to try and prevent infection. Depends on your ob/specialist and the growth of the baby whether they will try tablets or a d&c. I've done both, one time the tablets didn't work, the other time they did and one time my pregnancy was too far along to do tablets.

Take time to heal. It is a horrible feeling and a range of emotions that you will go through. Big hugs. x
