Default Avent anti colic bottles Vs classic Avent bottles

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone can help me with this.
Ive just started using the Avent bottles with the anti colic ring and am looking at a few bulk second hand lots as we only have a couple after using pigeon ones in special care. What Im wondering is if the older Avent bottles and screw ring seal thingy (cant think of the name lol) fit the anti colic rings, or do I need to purchase only the newer bottles with anti colic ring provided?
Also, if the older bottles can be used with the ring, can you purchase just the anti colic ring seperately, or do you have to buy the whole bottle?
I havent had the chance to look so need to direct DH in the right direction in what to buy, as DS is slowly weaning off the extra slow pigeon teats on to the slightly faster-yet smallest size-avent teat and bottle.
    Many thanks!

Sorry, didn't think DD would sleep so long.

You can't use the anti-colic rings with the normal avent bottles. The anti-colic ones are a bit shorter and need the ring to make the white teat holder fit.

Is there a reason you need the anti-colic ring? I use both types (didn't realise there was a difference when I bought them in a hurry). While I haven't done any kind of scientific study I honestly can't tell any difference between them.

No, no particular reason, I just grabbed one at the chemist and didnt realise until opening it that it was different. I haven't seen any difference in the amount of air that comes up when DS burps in comparison to the Pigeon bottles so I have to wonder at the anti colic thing!
So you chop and change between the two with no issues obviously? I guess its a marketing ploy in order to have to buy all new bottles, as there seems to be a pretty big market in the pre-loved Avent bottles which would cancel out their new bottle sales somewhat.
I think I might try the same, and just get a bulk lot of the older bottles and teat holders, and see how we go.
Oh, forgot to ask-I assume the teats are all the same for both styles? Thanks muchly!

Yeah, I just use which ever one comes out of the steriliser next.

The teats fit the same. Even though DD is over 5 months she still uses the second stage teat and doesn't like the one for 3 months and above.
