My kids have always gone to family day care so I am totally comfortable (and prefer) the idea of one person looking after my kids as opposed to a centre based arrangement.

I would do it if I could vet the person, hell, it might even be a good way to make new friends! I would want to do a 'contract' of sorts though and set up alternate care in case of illness or holidays....

Personally I wouldn't be comfortable with any other scenario for my children other than a daycare centre. And what if something were to happen with your child in the care of another parent? There is that aspect to think of.
Totally agree. Even if the families have blue cards and are checked all it means is that they haven't been caught doing anything suspect. They could be very charming and sneaky. At a daycare there is close monitoring of staff. It would be far more difficult to hurt them in that environment.

It just sounds like a lot of work. To go to the trouble of obtaining WWC and first-aid.... I wouldn't be comfortable at all if my little one was in another's care. I'd probably end up worrying lol Even with friends. My little girl goes to childcare, and even that took a lot of adjustment for both of us! I think this sort of arrangement is happening anyway in communities on a smaller scale. Just wouldn't work on a bigger scale. Not realistic in my opinion :
