Default What would you pay for Family Day Care?

I'm about to start to doing Family Day Care, just doing my family hand book, was going to charge $9 an hr per child. Do you that would be reasonable or too much? What would you be willing to pay?

That would really depend on what you are including in your service. This is what I would want to know before deciding - are nappies/wipes/meals provided? If meals are provided are they home made or prebought? What does your program look like? What activities and experiences are you providing?

I would pay $80 a day and wouldn't want anything included.

    Our local FDC charges $6/hr.

At $9/hr, my kids go to a proper long day care with hot lunches, qualified teachers and all the rest.

I would not pay $9/hr for FDC.

"Proper long day care".... FDC is governed by the same national equality framework as LDC, there is nothing less proper about it??

I pay $7ph and Morning and Afternoon Tea are provided which is usually fruit, yoghurt, muffins or something the children have made together in the Morning. We provide lunch, nappies and wipes. $9 an hour I would probably expect wipes and lunch provided but we use cloth nappies so nappies wouldn't bother me.

By a proper long day care, I mean classroom environment. They used to go to FDC, but I found my eldest needed a more structured and social environment. FDC is not a Long Day Care centre. It is home based care. For the most part, it is excellent too. I'm not saying anything against FDC. OP asked an opinion about costing, I gave my opinion. Nothing more, nothing less.

I would be charging similar to what the child care centers around you are charging. When I was doing family day care (in Melbourne) I was charging $10ph, operating 7:30-5:30 and provided everything but lunch. Most of the centers in my area were charging between $85-$95. Hth

I used to pay $8/hr - which didn't provide meals or nappies or anything but I loved my day care mum and was very happy to pay that!
