Beta that's the most incredible news!! Congratulations. Do you mind giving me a bit of an idea of what's involved with Chinese medicine? I've been seeing a naturopath since our mc (6 months) and am loosing faith and have talked about doing Chinese medicine instead as I def can't afford both. The naturopath has put me on various suppliments plus some herbs - the herbs cost a bomb and haven't done the job as yet. She also looks at general health and weight loss in my case. I'm sure acupuncture will be suggested for my stim cycle and I'm kinda looking forward to that.

Congratulations beta!!! That's fantastic news :-) as a fellow low amh'er your story really does give me hope. I'm definitely going to stick with the herbs! It was funny when I saw Richard last week he guessed I was seeing Lynn based on the supplements I was taking. I listened to an online seminar today by a Chinese medical practitioner who has had great success all over the world helping people conceive and it was really interesting. It's amazing how many other issues affect fertility and how Chinese medicine can help people conceive by fixing those underlying problems. The key is the preparation ie herbs etc! The part I really enjoyed was when he said the views on amh are changing and it's not the be all and end all which made me feel better as mine is so low. So I'm starting to feel a bit more positive about things as I was starting to feel I could be a lost cause...

I totally felt a lost cause when I found out about my AMH, I will never forget the day. A nurse accidentally told me and said 'I'm so sorry' as if she was telling me I had a terminal illness! But yes I've since learnt it's not all doom and gloom In fact although I only had 5 eggs at pu with Lynn they were all blastys and I still have 3 in the freezer! My fSH was ok bit I'm sure Chinese medicine will help with that. I also always used to feel the cold but not anymore, even DH puts a jumper on before I do these days so yes it's incredible how it rights your system. This is turning into a Chinese med thread!

So your first appointment will be a general questionnaire, tongue and pulse also tell Chinese doctors a lot. Based on that info Richard will probably recommend weekly acupuncture and raw herbs for three months. The herbs are changed each week according to your progress and health at each visit. You will get bags if twigs and bark and goodness knows what. You cook up a few doses over the stove and have about a tea cup morning and night (1/2 hour away from meals). Generally 3 months is a good amount of time. During the acupuncture he may also use a heat lamp over you abdomen, much of it is tailored to increase blood flow to you uterus and reproductive organs. I felt very tired for the first 6 weeks then gradually got more and more energy. My sugar cravings reduced, my menstrual cycle became like clock work and more of a flow and I developed stretchy mucous at ovulation time for the first time ever. I then went back to Lynn and now have DS from the cycle post herbs. Hope that helps! There is a rebate on the acupuncture through private health insurance btw. It's not cheap I guess but in the long run i thinks it's cheaper than doing failed IVF cycles if your health is not optimum and you can't conceive due the female factor infertility. We had both apparently but somehow DH sperm got us over the line with HAICSI and now that he hasn't been bike riding they seem to be working again!

Oh and a few other things.. Generally the treatment is recommended to continue through the first trimester to help prevent miscarriage, also acupuncture before and after transfer. Richard has a colleague who I also had acupuncture from when he was away. Also I liked the fact that Richard did general medicine in china so has western medicine knowledge which I found helpful coming from western medicine background myself.. Kind of feels more balanced

    Hi Ladies,

Thanks for all the info re TCM and Richard. I wonder if anyone has used any other practitioners from the Rigwood clinic. The reason I ask is because I will only be able to attend on a Saturday and Coburg is quite far from me.

    Thank you

My results were posted to me by the GP! That's how I found out about my AMH. It was terrible as I opened it up and there was a note to say 'ovarian reserve seems to be low, you may want to follow up with a specialist'. I had no clue what it was all about and if 1.4 was bad. Then I looked at what the normal range is and burst into tears! I was so lost and confused and of course jumped straight online to see what it all meant and was horrified by what I was reading. My whole future looked completely bleak as what id always hoped for now seemed impossible. It was quite easily the worst experience of my life. I was so ****ed at that insensitive dr for sending it in the post and not having the courtesy to at least call me and explain. I also really wish that FS were more in tune to other options to assist people rather than pushing them into ivf when in my case it was never going to work. They don't seem to understand the enormity of what we are going through and how completely devastating it is when it doesn't work. But they are in it to make money! So I am thankful I am now with Lynn as she is very open about it and will tell you there is no point going ahead when she knows it won't work. And I love Richard!! He's very up front too so between them both I feel more hopeful :-)
It's interesting about you always feeling cold as I'm the same!! Hoping that changes for me too!!
