    Default Planning a christening

DS is 2.5 and bub 2 is due in two weeks. DS hasn't been christened yet and I want to have them both christened at the same time

Anyone got any tips? I'm Christian but DH and I are not regular church goers, actually we never go.

How do I plan a christening?
How many people do I invite?
Is there normally a get together after?

    Pls give me some ideas

    Thanks!

First of all you have to decide on a specific religion (Anglican, catholic etc) then hunt down your local church and find out their requirements. For some you have to go to classes.

Once you have it booked in with the church send an invite to family and friends. A christening is usually followed by a function involving lunch etc (bbq's are popular). This can be a lot of work to organise so keep it in mind when you are deciding who to invite...

Ring the church you want to have it in and they will organise a time to have it that suits you. They do the booklet etc. you might have to go to an information night about how the Christening will run and what you need to say etc. some churches like you to come to a mass before the christening to be introduced to the parish. You might need to choose one or two people to do a reading. You will also need a candle and stall with bubs name on them and other info which the church will give you. You will use these for communion and confirmation when your kids get older.
    Hope this helps

Our DD is getting christened on Sunday. We are only having a small christening with immediate family and a few close friends ☺️

Also, I would only invite close friends and family.

Thanks all I'll ring the church today.

Do they normally charge a fee?

Some do, it's usually a "donation" you aren't obliged to pay. Maybe ask people in the area what the protocol is for the particular church. Or ask when you ring.
