Just thought i'd share that I found a health fund with only a 2 month wait on IVF today (GMF).

Too late for me but may be worth investigating for those of you looking into IVF. I'm going to look at changing over regardless as I would get IVF on mid-hospital for the same price i currently pay for my basic cover that excludes IVF - looks to have no excess for day surgery too.

Hi HeyMissA and others, just be really careful you read all the fine print and do your research when it comes to ivf and PHI. I have the top cover at HCF which states it includes ivf. When I looked into it further, they only pay a small proportion of costs associated with being an inpatient. For my clinic that amounts to a rebate of $0 as EPU is a day procedure. So I get absolutely nothing back. Other clinics charge for EPU with anaesthetic etc which qualifies for a PHI rebate but I think the rebate is pretty minimal <$200 so overall not really worth having PHI from what I've learnt x

thanks @bel2466 - that's why I didn't bother upping my cover because I was under the impression it didn't cover much. Although, today the clinic said those with the right cover usually have no fee for the day surgery. I had to pay $1200 up front. Not sure if I will get any rebate as my cover says minimal benefits.

When DD had grommits it was day surgery and it cost us nothing even though it was day surgery at private clinic. They just vary so much... so confusing. I'll do more investigating tomorrow & may make some phone calls.

So some bad news and some good news for me this week...

Bad news - af started this week so our 2nd ivf has been unsuccessful .

But... A few weeks ago I booked an appointment with a fs who is supposed to be the best of the best in Brisbane for a second opinion and his waiting list is so long that the first appointment I could get was November! Anyway, the good news is his receptionist called today and they've had a cancellation so my appointment has been moved up to Monday!

I actually have a follow up appointment with my current fs on Monday too so it will be really interesting to compare what they both say. So excited!

    Me - 30, Dh - 38 ttc #1 since June 2011
natural bfp June 2012 - mc 5.5 weeks; 5 cycles clomid; 2 unsuccessful ivf.
