I want to say "Yay, Shrillian is here", but at the same time wish none of us were here in LTTTC. fx the acupuncture does the trick for you.

Thanks @Rocky27! Me too! Though going to go with reality and make myself a little comfortable.
@Funchu: how funny, I did the same thing! Saw your name higher up and was going to write "great to see some familiar faces", but then realised I didn't want familiar faces in here - only in the DIGs!

I guess if there are no male factor issues than putting the sperm up there manually (that's such a clinical description lol) makes no difference as there is nothing wrong with morphology, count or motility anyway and the sperm don't need a helping hand. At least that's what I'm reading.
I get what you are saying here. I guess my thinking was if you have unexplained infertility or hormone issues or issues with cervica mucus getting in the way IUI may be beneficial as it gives you the added meds.

This is true - if you have issues with cervical mucus or issues with irregular ovulation iui can definitely overcome those things, however for many of us with unexplained infertility these things are not issues. If fs told me there was a problem with my cervical mucus I would count that as an explanation!

The thing is that unexplained could mean 'we haven't found the problem yet' or it could mean 'there literally is no problem'. I can't get my head around there being no explanation and I keep thinking if only they could find something we'd know what to do to overcome it!

Good luck for this cycle! Fx. When is your birthday?

I'm almost 37, can't quite believe it. Where did the time go? I was only 33 1/2 when I went off the pill to start "seeing what would happen". Perhaps we should have been more proactive back then. Oh well.

Our fs didn't recommend iui for us as there was no sperm problem so we went straight to ivf. It was a really hard decision and I think I was mourning the fact that we were giving up on conceiving naturally for a long time... I was pretty depressed about the whole situation until transfer! We had a whole 5 days of being happy and hopeful before AF arrived.

On that note, I saw the psychologist today. One session is included with each ivf cycle so I figured I'd try it since it was free! It was pretty good. I pretty much burst into tears the second we started talking! He actually had some helpful advice though and helped me look at some things from a different perspective. I'll definitely go back and have another session with my current cycle.

We are UF and our FS said IUI was an option, that I had "time" to try it before going to IVF, and could have a break in btwn cycles if I wanted. But max of 4 IUI cycles. To me it was a relief to try one more thing before IVF, a stepping stone. Still injections etc but not as high dose, and the procedure is minimal, esp compared with egg retrieval. Each cycle is $1500 before medicare' and you reach the threshold after one pretty much. So we are on IUI one.

Fx for your IVF cycle Phee. Glad you got something positive from seeing the psych. Might have to give it a go myself.

Del, hope you can find a solution.

I think I had AMH, will have to look it up!

Thought it was about time I joined this thread. TTC # 1 for around 2 years now. Signature says most of it.

Tried to "see what happens" for the first 4-6 months. Then actively trying for the next 6 months. Took a couple of months off and then saw an FS in May last year. Metformin with no results (I have irregular cycles - AF every 2-3 months).

DH's SA came back all clear, I got diagnosed with "Unexplained Infertility". FS thinks I'm not ovulating each month. Did OI as per my signature. Skipped November as I had to have surgery at the end of October to get a cyst removed near my tailbone. Sigh.

Just went through 6 weeks of acupuncture and now on my first cycle after it. Mainly did acupuncture as my FS said we'd discuss "next steps" if the last cycle of induction didn't work. Kind of scared hitting that "next step".

Had a positive OPK on Saturday, but can't guarantee that I actually ovulated. Fx I did, though!

Will take some time to catch up on all of your stories, so in the mean time - good luck to all those testing/waiting to test/starting treatment/got their BFP/ riding out AF. xx

Fx for O Shrillian! The acupuncturist I saw recommended continuous treatment after BFP as he said I had cold blood, needed to warm it up, and increase my AF length, and make a warm home for baby! Didn't keep going because I moved interstate. I hope the acu. has prepared a warm home for your BFP!

This was my dream last night! In it I had a massive argument with DH, blaming him for making me wait before he was ready to TTC, knowing I would have issues due to my irregular cycles. Sigh. Stupid subconscious.

Mind you, the dream ended horribly, with DH "needing a break" from our relationship and coming back 3 months later with a lady he's knocked up. I was devastated.

Thank you!! Funnily enough, my acu said the same thing about keeping that area warm as it helps to "make the period". Try to keep my jeans and a singlet top wrapping the area every day. She didn't say anything about continued cycles if I get a BFP, though, so will ask her when/if that time comes. Thanks!

She managed to get me a small and regular length period in the 6 weeks of treatments with her. Was meant to have a follow up appointment on Sunday gone to see if I needed to extend to a 10 week treatment (in case my AF just gone wasn't a "regular" length, which it turned out to be 5 days of red and one day of brown, so counting that as a good length). Will see her tomorrow, with luck, in case she thinks I need to continue. Worried about missing the appointment in case I needed it, though!
