Default Birthday Present suggestions for teen with ASD + Intellectual Disability?

    Hi Everyone,

My DSS1 is turning 19 next Saturday and we're struggling to come up with a gift idea for him.

He's very high functioning (ASD scaled right back when he hit puberty), has been assessed as about the same "mental age" as an 8 year old - but he very much acts like a typical teenager (not childlike).

He loves his video games like any teenage boy, and his mother has bought him more electronic stuff than you could poke a stick at. He has multiple game consoles, his own laptop, iPad, iPod, etc.

Obviously we want to get him something that he'll enjoy, we'd like to steer away from the electronic side of things, but are not sure what might be a good alternative? One issue is that he doesn't take very good care of his belongings, so we hesitate to invest in anything too expensive because it's lucky to last 3-6 months (he has a habit of taking things apart).

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

What about a remote control car, a fancy one that you have to put together & are great to pull apart? Plus it gets him outside.

    Or an experience ie skydive?
