Wish I were brave enough for a home birth.

I'm so curious about birth and the pain! I hope I can cope without an epidural but I won't be saying no if it comes to a point where I might want one. I like to think I have a high pain threshold. DH doesn't think so. Haha.

Havent been on this thread in ages...missed so much...

Thanks for posting ur home birth story blotchedtabby. I will def sit down n have a read! All u ladies are so so brave...part of my reason for stopping my ttc journey a few years ago were fears of birth n labour. I think on fb u were mentioning irrational fears...mine is childbirth. I knew I couldn't put off pregnancy n ttc any longer as it isnt fair on my dp who cant wait to have kids n we are both getting older. I cant wait to have kids either however even the thought of labour makese sick. I admire all u ladies who have babies the normal way!!!

I'm a bit scared of the pain but I'd be terrified if I had to have a c section. I already have a large abdominal scar that I have hated my entire life. Not keen on another one.

@beccaboobang there's nothing especially brave about a homebirth except dealing with societies & others expectation that you *should* go into hospital.
@Pumpkaboo i didn't think of drugs at all through my entire labour. Just took it one contraction at a time. I did a bit of Calmbirthing & read a bit of Juju Sundins Birth Skills. Labour pain is healthy pain - remembering that can help some people.

I don't think it would be expectations I'd be scared of. I think I'd be scared to be at home and not in a hospital surrounded by medical staff.

I had two dedicated medical staff. things can go wrong both at home and at hospital. Homebirth stats are actually really good - in a low risk pregnancy homebirth is at least as safe if not safer than a hospital birth. it really comes down to where you feel most comfortable i think.
