The fasting must make the effect of the drink much stronger. Wonder why I didn't have yo do the fasting one? Or what the difference is? So munch and kazza, are you at the same hospital?

I found the drink tasted like what id expect straight green/coola cordial would taste like. Thick and sickly, you expect fizz but theres not really alot.

But considering I only drink water and diet coke... And have since I was a teen... Anything else tastes funky

Tiff fx its a good sign for you! I know once I knew I was pregnant my dog used to be not far away, and slept on my belly (just under 3kgs) all the time.
He ended up being such a protective "mother hen" to ds, he would climb onto the couch and peer at ds in the basinette if he so much as heard him sigh while sleeping. It was so cute.
once ds woke and I was in the kitchen (used to put ds in the lounge in his basinette) and the dog cane bolting out whimpering, scratching at my legs, walked towards the lounge, scratched my legs, walked towards the lounge etc until I went in there. He was then standing at the end of the basinette on the couch looking at me!

Proudly brought to you by me and my autocorrect fail device.

Yes that's weird that they didnt get you to fast. In people with type 2 diabetes, around 2hrs after a meal, their bsl are still quite high. So fasting then bt, then another bt is always more accurate
I am in sa and munch in Vic I think

Last time I did the test I wasn't allowed to leave pathology - was only going to go and grab a paper to read and come back, so DH went and grabbed one anyway while I waited.

I think there are a couple of ways to do the test so don't worry. But it could be worth checking. It probably just comes down to hospital proceedures/policies. I didn't have to fast with dd either. I'm going to quiz my midwife on Monday because now I'm curious!

So...who got the most thoughtful Christmas present?!

DH and I don't buy each other presents anymore, so will have to live through others!

Just popping in to comment - my 28 week test is also non fasting. I specifically asked because I have done the fasting test before and it was easier to book that appt first thing in the morning.
The non fasting is shorter in time, but if you fail then you will be told to do the fasting one I believe.

Ok thanks everyone. I will ring pathology on Monday to find out for sure, but that would be great to have non fasting so I don't have to wait a long time in between bt's

We didn't do presents this year because we are buying a house and saving for a baby lol. Plus it's our first year anniversary in feb so we will be spending big for that. I'm getting my double up wedding ring so that's quite pricey. Therefore I'll have to match the price lol :-/
My birthday is in jan also so we decided no bday presents just for this year.
