Default Donating instead of birthday gift?!

    Hi all,

We have our daughters first birthday coming up soon and after the amount of Christmas presents she received I can only imagine how much she will get for her birthday.

As there's going to be quite a few people at her party we are thinking about asking people to donate to the royal children's instead of gifts (of course if people want to buy her something they can) we will buy her things and I'm sure our family will too so she won't be deprived of toys etc...

She has been in and out of the children's since she was born so we thought this would be a nice gesture.

What are peoples thoughts? I don't want to annoy people with this request.

Thank you. I just don't see the need for so many toys that she probably won't play with.

The children's could use this money so much more than us.

I did this for DDs 1st birthday, except the charity we chose was the Starlight Foundation. We set up a page on Everyday Hero (I think that's what it was) and included the link in the invitation that was mailed out.

We didn't get heaps of donations but we raised a few hundred - every bit counts!

I think I love you! The number of gifts kids receive at parties makes me cringe. Our plan is to limit gifts to immediate family and ask guests to donate directly to '----' charity if they would like.
