Just did my first shot of Cetrotide, ow! The Elonva was so much easier.

I had to go to the GP today to get a new referral for this cycle. How ridiculous is that?! My fallopian tubes haven't miraculously grown back since my OB's referral expired. Its such a racket. Imagine how much money the government could save if Medicare didn't have to reimburse for obtaining new referrals.

vikkib i hear ya! i am in trouble because my referral expired and i had a fertility appointment yesterday morning. i tried to get to the gp doctor on the weekend but it was going to be $100 to see her on a saturday. my gp knows absolutely nothing about fertility- its not even worth talking to her about it. she is one of those gps that says just try and be patient and reduce your stress and it will happen. absolutely ridiculous! its so frustrating to have to see a gp who knows nothing just to continue seeing a specialist,

Hey VikkiB we were told after our initial FS appointment to go back to GP & get a referral marked indefinite which I did twice as the woman at our clinic didn't pass it onto the FS rooms twice. When they called to say we would have to get another I told them I had already provided 2 indefinite referrals & they could sort it out or call my GP themselves I wasn't going through if again.

Thanks ladies, I didn't even know you could get indefinite referrals! And I was distracted with paying at the doctor's office and a few other errands afterwards, that I never even looked at the new referral. I could have given the IVF clinic a piece of paper that says I'm a neglectful mother with a fatal illness, and I wouldn't know!

    Welcome Tinkers!

Judging from a comment on a mothers group friend's FB page, yet another of my friends is pregnant. Our bubs are two in April, and she will make the fifth to fall pregnant/give birth to subsequent babies. If my natural conception last year hadn't been ectopic, I would had a new baby this month.

Even though I know its impossible for me to conceive without IVF, I still find it hard to accept this kind of news. How does everyone else cope?

    Hi all.

Another IVF newbie here. Hope you don't mind me joining in.

    Details below... in signature.

Start IVF with ICSI tomorrow ! Am starting Puregon 112 tomorrow (CD3), then go in to check the follies on Tuesday (CD8).

Girls... re: the referral. Am a nurse here and have had a fair bit of experience with doctors (for other reasons). A GP can write an indefinite referral, but you need to make sure you ask the to do so. Generally it will be 12 months unless written otherwise. Also a specialists referral only lasts for 3 months.

I know the feeling but just see it as once you fall pregnant you are all in the same boat you won't even think about how you got there just the fact that you have another chance to have a baby
