Hi lovepurplebutterflies I can only tell you from a nursing perspective. It will take up to 6weeks to completely recover. You can ask the hospital to organise home help or post acute care program to help you with cleaning etc. Have meals pre cooked etc so you only have to reheat. You will need someone to drive you home and be with you the first couple of nights your home. I hope this helps. You can also ring the hospital with any questions you might have as easy hospital will have their own policy etc

From what my gyno tells me recovery is minimum 6 weeks, whilst externally we heal quite quickly you need to factor in internal healing, the uterus supports a vast array of internal organs including our bladder and bowell, my gyno told me it is now common practice to create a sling internally to support the organs but if you don't allow your body to heal properly you risk complications such as vaginal and rectal proplapses. If your kids are still really dependant on you and you have nobody to assist you for a while I would consider holding off for a year or 2, as hard as it it It's no fun living with chronic pain

I had one on 2004... recovery took 6-8 weeks. it was the best thing I did alotho first 2 weeks was rather painful but manageable with pain relief. I just made sure I held a pillow or towel over my scar when I had to cough etc and I rested as much as I could. will they do a full hysterectomy? I had a full abdominal one and have no reproductive organs left ... it saved my sanity and my life basically due to severe endo... best of luck and I hope yours goes well... just remember to take it easy !
