My DD loves hers and still sleeps with it! (she is 3.5 years old). We have 3 just in case one gets lost. I can't remember how old she was when we got it though.....maybe 6ish months. She used to suck on the ends to comfort herself to sleep.

I was given one at my baby shower for my 1st son. He never got attached to it. Instead he is inseparable from his bunny.
I have tried using it for my 2nd son again zero interest. He is liking his teddy.
I usually put 3-4cuddly toys in their cot from very early on and i guess they have just chosen their own favourite

Neither of my kids would take a dummy (or bottle....basically anything other than boob!)

With my DD, I slept with it for a couple of nights (down my top!) so it smelt like mummy. I then put it between us for her to touch/play with while feeding/falling asleep for a while, and eventually just put it in her cot with her. It took a while, but she was inseparable from it once she became attached.

That being said, I tried the same thing with my DS and he doesn't like it. When I try to put it between us while he is falling asleep/feeding he gets angry and throws it away! He prefers to try to suck on my clothes

I think it's hard to predict what each child will become attached to unfortunately.
