@miissalina - I don't think it's tested for at Westmead. I had had 4 failed ivf cycles last year - not even a chemical so I wanted to get tested as I thought something might be wrong. I read a book called 'is your body baby friendly" by Dr Beer, a pioneer in automimmune/nk issues in the US. Dr Matthias here in Sydney trained under him.
I saw Dr M in Jan and had a hysteroscopy and uterine biopsy and about 8 vials of blood taken. I had my follow up appointment yesterday where he confirmed that I have these things called anti nuclear antibodies (ANA) which he explained as when I have a transfer my body goes into an overdrive immune reaction to it. I also have elevated blood and uterine NK cells, so when I have the transfer they attack the embryo thinking it's a disease. Essentially I would never have been able to get pregnant with just IVF. Judging by the number of ladies on the NK thread there is quite a few of us with these problems, all to a varying degree and some of the ladies on there have a lot tougher hurdles than me.
Thanks @hwaterhouse, I'm hoping this year is it for me and I do get to the ultimate of having a baby in my arms.
