A midwife told me gas is not considered a drug or pain relief in labour.

so what is the point of it if it doesn't relieve pain?

    I know.
I was sure it was considered a pain reliever, mild but a pain reliever all the same, but the midwife was adamant.

It didn't do much for me by way of pain relief though, it just helped control my breathing when I was forgetting to do it myself.

Think the midwife probably needs to do a refresher on the products she offers, and looks up the definition of informed consent.

What an odd thing for a Midwife to say?? It's a drug...one that has an analgesic effect, thus it is used for pain relief.
