Default Any other FIFO partners away for Christmas?

DP will be away for Christmas this year just the way his roster works unfortunately. Every year he will be rostered on unless he takes holidays. As we have a baby on the way he wants to save his holidays for that.

Any other mums in the same boat?

    What are your plans?

We're going to MIL's on Christmas eve and staying the night, then off to GMIL's for lunch, so at least DD will have more than just me on Xmas morning!

Hugs. I know it's not the same. My dd1 can come due to work. It will be our one apart. She not going to her boyfriend either, so she will be all alone. I am missing her terribly. I have cried so many times already. The kids have cried too. We are going to try and fb video chat for present openning etc and whatever other part of the day we can.

Hugs. I dont have a partner but i miss out on time with DS due to my work roster. Was too late for me to get holidays when i became permanate. I will miss out on half the day, possibly a bit longer trying my best to please 15 different families without pleasing my own

My hubby flys out at 5am Christmas morning, it's our bubs first Christmas so we'll celebrate a couple of days before & pretend it's Christmas... Sucks but that's the way it is!

I'm having all my family over for Christmas dinner, so won't be alone.

It sucks that we aren't together but I just think about all the families that will be because it's his 'turn' to work, it'll come around again in a few years.

That's my thoughts too, but DP is only one of two that do his job, so I'm really hoping they can take it in turns! (Its only fair in my opinion!)

I'm worried some new guy will be DP's back to back & refuse to cooperate next year. Oh well, no use worrying about what ifs!

My partner is away for Christmas this year. We have recently moved to WA for his job, so I have no family or friends here yet.
It's just going to be me and the 2 kids. DP wants us to pretend Christmas Day is on the 28th as he flies home that day. But I don't know if it will work, as in I think the 6yr old might clue onto it

My Dh went back to work yesterday, he does 4 weeks on one week off so it will just be me and our kids this Christmas but I have organised to go out for Christmas lunch with our kids, but it just won't be the same And he won't be back until the middle of January! It hurts a lot.
