    Default Whooping Cough Vaccination

Hi, I am 33 weeks pregnant and am sending DP to get her whooping cough needle next week. She is worried that it is going to make her sick. Has anyone gotten the vacc and had issues ect?

    Any stories are appreciated.

Got mine straight after I had my first as there was a WC scare at the hospital and also at mothers group. So did DH - neither of us were sick or even noticed a difference.

From memory it has tetanus in it as well so the site felt a little sore for a day or so.

And I get REALLy sick from a flu needle so was terrified.

Nope. No problem for me or DH. Or the kids for that matter.

DH had a really sore arm for 3 days & had trouble sleeping on that side. Mine was fine, it wasn't even sore at the injection site.

    Have you had it @Keerah?
New national guidelines are for expectant mums to have it in the third trimester.
    I'm an accredited vaccinator.
Most common reaction for the dTpa (adult diphtheria/tetanus/pertussis) is just localized site reactions.
So potentially your DP might get a lump where the injection went in that's warm to touch and not painful as such but uncomfortable.
Shouldn't make her deal sick or anything like that though as it's not a love vaccine.
PM me if you have any questions

Think she is just being a sook and get out of it tbh lol. She just needs to suck it up and have it done.

As for mine. I was planning on having it done about now. Most of this pregnancy I have been sick and I also got hit with a massive dose of chicken pox about 6 weeks ago. Because it is taking me so long to recover my GP is reluctant for me to have it before bubs is delivered as neither of us are sure how my body would cope with it (I struggle to function on a day to day basis)
