Note- lactose free milk/cheese etc will only help if it's an intolerance to lactose. If it's a reaction to the milk protein, then you'd have to cut out dairy all together.

Default What causes diarrhoea in a toddler?

I've just had DS2 at the GP for his rank poos. He's 17 months and for the last 4 months or so they've been loose, explosive, bits of undigested food, and the smell....my god the smell....

I've tried him on low/no fruit, dairy avoidance/A2 milk (me and DS1 bit had CMPI) and he's now on lactose free milk with no other dairy. Nothing has worked. Luckily (?!) he did a huge poo at the GP so they took a sample then and there and I should hear back next week. GP suggested possibly having giardia which is a parasite in the bowel, very common in babies and kids. Might be worth getting his pop tested just to rule out anything buggy.

I feel your pain. It's so, so, so gross.

He was checked for undigested food in his poo. That he didn't have any apparently ruled a host of maladies out. The smell is of normal intensity.

He had his poo tested for worms etc and came back clear.

I will be following up a lot of these suggestions. Thanks again.
