It's not as nice as the real thing, but my mchn said the deli meats you can buy in sealed containers (Hans, KR Castlemaine etc) are ok to have. It's the stuff at deli counters that are the risk. Good luck xx

thanks everyone, I guess I shouldn't have listened to the people around me who think they know best. Or Dr Google for that matter.

I'll try & calm down & relax more. I'll also think about what I'm eating though & try to make sure it's not something really bad.

I stayed away from sofy cheeses and cold deli meats. I ate cooked deli meats and even had mayo in small amounts. I didn't know for a long time that I wasn't supposed to eat it.

Even had pizza with salami and shredded meat on it. I figured it had been coojed at a high Heat so it was safe.

How much coffee did others drink/ cut out during pregnancy?

I've cut down to a half shot nespresso daily... Hoping to quit altogether. Cheese, cold meats and alcohol is no biggie for me but coffee!!

I had a coffee every day. Sometimes a cola too.

Deli meats are fine hot, just not cold meat. Same as seafood - hot is fine. Fruit & veg is fine, just not pre prepared salads that look like they've been sitting around.

Raw egg you actually do need to be careful of, because that's what's in all house made mayo, aioli, tartare sauces. That's not a listeria risk though - it's salmonella. Mayo from a jar or bottle is fine.

You might be worrying too much. It can be hard sometimes but I can't imagine that you couldn't possibly think of anything to eat on Xmas day.

My rule is 'If it's hot, I can have it'.
I will eat salami and ham on pizzas or in toasties. Cream cheese is processed so tuck in! I think the guidelines say eat within 3 days of opening so maybe get the little tub packs if you don't think you will finish it all. Food courts I choose dumplings from the sushi place, fresh made Asian foods (stir fry/ wanton soup) , chicken and chips if I feel naughty. A burger with no salad.

Caffeine wise I was having 2 half strength lattes a day and I cut out the coke zero, but I have since developed an aversion to coffee so I just have the odd sip of DH's coke and try not to spew when he makes coffee. Check out the nsw pregnancy food guidelines, I find them the clearest to understand. Good luck xx

I had only one proper coffee a day. Hut that was same pre pregnancy. I also had caffeine from soft drinks. There are preservative numbers you have to watch out for that you can't have in soft drink too

    Nsw food authority in caffeine:
NSW Health recommends that pregnant women limit themselves to 200mg of caffeine daily. That amount would be obtained from about 1-2 cups of espresso style coffee, 3 cups of instant coffee, 4 cups of medium strength tea, 4 cups of cocoa or hot chocolate, or 4 cans of cola. Avoid double shots of espresso coffee and drinks marked as sports or energy drinks that contain caffeine.
