From Darwin it's less than $200 return with the sales. If you don't live here though you have to get up here and that's where the money is. Its cheaper for me to fly to Bali then to Sydney.

Agree with PP, if you can get fares with an AirAsia sale you'll be laughing.

I went to Bali with my sister in January after we got AirAsia sale flights for $177 return (from Perth, incl taxes). Then we got a Scoopon for 5 nights accommodation for $250 (and each paid half), so we both got a 5 night holiday in Bali for $300 each! Even my Scrooge of a DH couldn't argue with that!

I just booked with air Asia x flying from Perth, middle of Jan, 2 adults, 1 child, 1 infant, plus 3x 25kg baggage cost $600. Far cheaper for us WA people to fly there than to Eastern states.

That seems too much to me! I wouldnt pay more than $300 each way from Melbourne.

We actually have booked for next new years at $1300 for 4 people including taxes, booking fees etc on Air Asia from Melbourne. This means we have to fly via KL, but we like KL and dont mind a stop there. It was cheaper to buy as two x one way tickets so thats something to try as well. Our flight back from Bali for the four of us was only $279 in total!!!! And thats at a very peak time.

Bellaleggos is talking about from Perth. very different than prices from Melbourne which is what me and the OP are talking about (I am primarily replying to them)

The taxes, charges and baggage fees on my cheap Melb-bali flights cost far more than $600 for 4 people.
