Default How to lose weight while on Lithium

So since being diagnosed bipolar been put on Lithium (about a year ago) ive gained almost 15kg. I knew weight gain was a side effect but my god.
Ive tried shake diets, working out, walking, no carbs, no sugar and nothing seems to work.

The thing is i love the way lithium has helped me feel emotionally better. I feel very stable emotionally but im not sure i can deal with this weight gain. I mean a little bit is not a problem but i can see myself falling in a depression because of how much ive gained.

Does anyone know any alternatives to Lithium for Bipolar?

Does anyone have any tips for weight loss??

My DH has Seroquel XR but it has the same kind of side effects and I know this is something he struggles with too.
He does shakes, weights and cardio and his doc is happy for him to have duromine once or twice a year but he still finds it hard
