Default Another Facebook thread - What's with the "pregnancy facts"?

I've seen these 'pregnancy facts' posts pop up a few times on my news feed today, and they're really bizarre. Basically someone is given a number and they then put as their status that number of facts about their pregnancy, then whoever likes it is given a number and that's how many pregnancy facts they have to share. People are hugely over-sharing, saw one that a friend commented on and this woman wrote "I tore so badly that I had to have 47 stitches" and another saying "I bled all through the first trimester so thought I was going to lose the baby".

I know that my friends husbands, my uncles, and non-parents would not want to know if I had 47 stitches, pulled my baby out of my vagina with my own hands or bled continuously for 3 months. I am the first to admit that I'm completely and utterly addicted to Facebook but come on people - there are some things that belong on Facebook and other things that belong in private conversations or parenting forums!

Yes I know I can just block their posts but just wanted to share as I found the level of over-sharing crazy! I'm fully expecting someone to put up a photo of their baby crowning shortly :-P

Yep everyone has been doing it today, personally being 34 weeks pregnant with my first, it's been scaring the cr@p out of me Lol.

I read today it was the most traumatic experience of someone's life, oh god my nerves have sky rocketed.

Awww don't be nervous! Yep, it hurts, but the pain is momentary and after a few weeks I had completely forgotten what a contraction felt like!

I did find Them all interesting though, as everyone had a different experience, but I'd never be game to post about it .

I dont mind. I actually think there is nothing wrong with talking about the reality of child birth.

I don't think there is anything wrong with talking about it but I also think you should choose your audience more selectively when talking about the more graphic elements of it.

I don't really see it as 'graphic' it just is what it is? Doesn't bother me in the slightest but then again I love all of that birthy stuff, it's so freaking AMAZING! I watched a baby elephant birth video last night, so cool! Women are fabulous!

Whats wrong with someone saying they had stitches? I dont think thats graphic. Then again i told facebook when i was going to have a pap smear. I said "time to get a cervical scrape!"

Isn't saying it on FB being a bit selective though? They're the people you've chosen to have on your friend's list, so you know that they're going to have access to at least SOME personal details that the general public aren't privy to.

I couldn't care less who knows about my vagina if I'm honest. If the men on my FB list are scared of being exposed to these kinds of things, they can block/unfriend me if it's that bad. (I haven't participated in this FB post though... and if I did, there wouldn't really be any vaginal involvement, I had a c-sec).

Yeah well, it's really up to every individual to share whatever they like on FB. It used to make my mind boggle what people would share on there, but now I just think it's absolutely up to them. I haven't seen those pregnancy posts, I haven't been on a lot though.
