    Default Night waking

Hi All! My son is just over 8 months old and is a very happy, content baby. He has been eating solids and has a good appetite for it and his milk. I am just starting to introduce meat now as I was told by a midwife ensuring enough protein is eaten helps sleeping through the night. He never falls asleep on a feed, always goes into cot drowsy and self settles, day & night (even on a midnight feed). However he has rarely slept through the night! When he was very little he quickly went to one, sometimes two feeds, per night and since then hasn't changed, aside from the odd full night (as if just to tease me haha!). So my question is, aside from CC, how have you encouraged your little ones, who can settle themselves, to go through the night?

Do you always need to feed him when he wakes? I dropped the last night feed for my DS around this age. He was bottle fed by then and I reduced the amount in his bottle by a small amount each night for about a week then gave nothing when he woke just patted his back until he went back to sleep. After a couple of nights he realised no milk and stopped waking at that time. If he woke at other times in the night I would again pat and shush back to sleep. But he was well over a year before he consistently slept through. 8 months is still young so don't worry if he takes a while to do the same.

Sorry I have just seen your lovely reply, thank you! Seems we have stopped the night feeding and he just has a bottle usually around 4am now which I don't mind for his age Thanks again!
