That's bull**** if that's all he gets! :/ I don't understand how ****ing murderers and pedophiles get off so lightly when they affect lives so directly and irrevocably. Our justice system is ****ed.

That's probably the best that could be hoped for with our justice system.

Wonder if his girlfriend plans on sticking around now lol

I have appreciated the judge presiding over this case, she had him absolutely pegged, well done Judge Lucy

What do you mean she had him pegged? What did she say? 26 years is a long time but his GF is dead forever. I really don't understand why people don't get life in prison for flat out murdering them? (As is the case here)..

My hubby is a lawyer and he often says 'justice' and what is morally right are not the same.

Yes, it's interesting, I was following the sentencing on twitter and the judge said that he "at times embraced the media attention" and encouraged his girlfriend to the same.

I always felt that he was courting the media and drawing attention to his girlfriend and the fact that she was wearing low cut tops, short skirts etc.

It was like he was saying "I'm not controlling. I'm not telling my girlfriend to dress conservatively, like it has been suggested I did with Lisa"

I meant in reading her summing up, he didn't get away with anything.

I agree he should have gotten life absolutely !!! but she didn't have that option, he got the maximum available.

Real justice would be allowing her mother and brother to shove HIM off a balcony in a fit of unpremeditated rage!

Rachelle got her screen time and a pay out. Doubt she'll be waiting at the gates when he's let out! He'll be close to 60 if he gets out after 18 years. He'll have the label Murderer till the day he dies.
