Default Aquila Game Reserve / Table Mountain

We went to Aquila as well. As we were unsure of time frames it was perfect. We had a hire car for our 2 weeks in CT and it is an easy drive. We got there late morning had an amazing buffet lunch and safari. The highlight was without a doubt the lions. If it was summer it would have been great to stay a night on the property.

As Rainbow has mentioned the Cable Car is easy and booking on line is the best option - no queuing for tickets but get there early it is very popular on fine days and remember sunscreen!

    Happy planning everyone xxx

PS I think I have a donor! Thank you Rainbow for your advice xxx

Thanks for clarifying rainbow. On their website it says self drive and I didn't want to do that. Would a morning or afternoon safari be sufficient?

Also with table mountain are the cables glass bottomed? I am terrified of heights!

January - yay to you if you have found a donor.. the hardest part is over

We went to Sanbona. Really splashed out. It's expensive, and not something we would EVER normally do..!!! (we could have got return flights to NZ for that!! ha ha) we don't normally splash money around like that.. but it was a treat and as usual, I spent hours on Trip Advisor going over all the reviews and we decided the extra money was worth it.

Its around $450+ per night, each. Very upmarket, honeymoon material Its 2.5 hour drive from Cape Town - awesome drive the scenery was spectacular, but then it all is, anywhere you go. Its like an eco park, where they won't put more lodges / people through, so as to look after the land... they said they could, but it's not what they are about. Its a huge area and they leave the animals in their natural state. We loved it. But as I said, double the price of others.

Any recommendations of places to stay in Cape Town?
My quick search has brought up some expensive choices... We'd be happy to do something simple like self catered apt... But some of the options that came up in my search mean we might be doing the whole 'backpackers experience' and going to a hostel

Angel - one safari would be enough, but it's really beautiful there. Gorgeous swimming pool and lovely bungalow accommodation. The food is to die for. If you are pressed for time, it's the closest park and is absolutely stand out excellent in terms of accommodation. We loved it and would go back in a heartbeat. It was -3 degrees when we woke up in the morning though (we were there mid august) so I imagine it gets quite hot in summer. But the pool will fix that!

I would probably only go for the day not overnight. They had morning or afternoon options or could do a full day? Would a half day be sufficient?
