Yep January mine was screened yesterday - the nurse emailed over night to say our tentative dates work for the donor - so now we just have to wait for the blood test results to come back and she'll send my treatment plan and it's all systems go! I've got my internet clicking finger ready to book everything!
Which doctor are you with at CFC?

I think it takes a couple of days Lily as they are waiting on the blood test results - someone can correct me if I'm wrong so hopefully by Monday I hope!

Good luck Em. Not long now. Just quickly has anyone ever chosen an out of town Donor? If so how did it all work? Did the donor still have the same amount of appointment set ?

Hi all and welcome to the newbies there are quite a few of you. I can only suggest that you read through the threads you will find pretty much everything you need to know and get to know others who participate in this thread along the way.

Helen good luck for your 12 weeks scan it seems like only yesterday that you posted your good news, I'm rooting for you from the side lines

blinky I have given my donors koala bear cuddly toys. I didn't realise their was a limit. I feel bad now I was thinking I was doing something nice giving them something to cuddle after their op and now I'm thinking they feel I was cheap, oh well nothing I can do about it now lol

Looks like there are a few going over next month, I may be joining some of you. I haven't booked anything yet. I won't be going til end of March first week of April.

Allie thanks for asking after me, I do read the updates but I havent had much to contribute. i am in the throws of having immunity issues looked at, if only they had this technology 15 plus years ago, life would have been much easier lol. Anyhoo I apparently need to have a biopsy done, I'm hoping to be squeezed in for that in the next couple of weeks to enable me to cycle April . Im not sure how long the biopsy results take to come back but I really don't think anything too sinister is going on, so am prepared to cycle without knowing the results, I will find out blood results the first week of March if not sooner anyway so I'm sure Dr M can come up with some kind of plan for eventualities. I am starting up acupuncture again as I feel this may have contributed to my first pregnancy. I told my hubby yesterday I want to do everything possible for this cycle as I don't want to go back again, a feeling came over me that its time, I'm ready now, and I then had a feeling of peace. I hadn't felt like that before.

I hope those who are pregnant are having a great pregnancy and sail through without problems .

Good luck to those about to cycle may the fertility goddess smile upon you, it's about time we had an influx of BFPs

    Hi all

Yes not long for me 10 days eeek, getting very nervous. I have decided not to hire a car, I just don't want the stress. We will just take taxi's if need be or walk. I have booked tickets for the hop on hop off bus to do sightseeing, Robbin Island and Table Mountain. My mum and I decided not to go to Aquila as we have both seen animals in like that and with only being there 8 whole days, it will be too rushy.

I am seriously over the sniffing and my nose is sore and I am hungry all the time.

I just need to start chilling and turning my brain off.

Great news about your donor Em.

I of course was devastated not only for us but for her as well as she would face fertility challenges early in life. Over the course of a weekend I searched and searched and secured a replacement donor. We managed to keep our original dates as well. Good luck on the search I'm sure you will find a replacement soon.

Blinky76 - There's a good chance we will be there the same dates as you!!!

Rachel70 - Welcome Rachel I think you'll find most of us travel to CFC in Cape Town. If you have the time sit down with a pen and note pad and read through all 4 threads. There is a wealth of information ranging from medication to travel tips. It is a great read.

Angelmama74 - I think you're next to go unless there is a lurker about to post! I wish you well and hope that you have a great experience. We have always hired a car. Cape Town is extremely easy to navigate. It is not a big city either.

Sooty - Looks like you are looking into everything. I'm a bit like you second time around. I actually feel quite disconnected from the whole thing and have absolutely decided this is my last attempt unless of course there are any left over to freeze. Good luck with your preparation.

Helen - Count down to the 12 week scan. I hope you get some reassurance although I don't think anyone really relaxes through this journey. So sorry to hear of the loss of one of the twins.

Rainbow - thanks for dropping in and sharing your friend's story. As I have just turned 49 it's nice to hear of others having success at my age.

Abundance1 - Lovely to hear you and the twins are doing well. I can't imagine what you have been through in the past. You are very courageous indeed.

AllieOop & Wishmeluck - Please remember to update when you have bub. I can't wait to start listing the Graduates on this year's roll call.

emski72 - I think our donors are both being screened today.......yay!!! Let's hope for a treatment plan shortly.

MrsErinR - Fingers crossed your last frostie sticks and you won't need to tread this path.

thembs - Hope your surviving the 2WW. Hope you get that BFP next week.

AFM - waiting for my treatment plan.

    Hi to anyone I've missed.

Lily - sorry you lost your donor. Our first donor pulled out too. We were in the uk and were coming back via SA. She'd had all her tests then when she turned up for her meds she changed her mind. I was devastated. EDSA were great. They offered to drop the out of town fees if we chose an out of town donor, which we did (my husbands first choice). We managed to squeeze the trip in between other commitments and went a month later. We now have a beautiful little boy who I wouldn't swap for anything and a second on the way with the same donor. In terms of out of town donors ours was from port Elizabeth. A lot of the screening and checking for follicles etc was done locally and she. Only travelled to CT for retrieval as far as I'm aware. It seemed to work anyway. Good luck with whatever you decide.
Thembs - good luck. I keep checking to see if your results are in.

Thanks Plimpy. Helps to know I'm not the only one who has dealt with this. I'm such an organiser but can't organise this, I guess it's a life lesson in there for me . With the first donor we agonised and poured over the profiles for ages. Now it's quick, quick and so many choices. Hopefully we will be all organised by early next week.

I think you'll be surprised how little the specifics of the donor matters (perhaps that changes as they get older). The only things I would look for are proven fertility (either their own children or successful donation) and no major hereditary disorders (why risk a disease unless it's necessary). I love my little man and when people say they can't see me in him it doesn't bother me at all (very hard not to say really there's a surprise, but until he's old enough to decide who knows his story we are limiting the people we tell). It's nice to find someone with a good heart who looks like you but who knows how much of the information provided is accurate. Does anyone know if the donor agencies check the information provided? I guess that's the advantage of known donors. We took the best option at the time and I don't regret it one little bit. I just hope our children understand and are happy to live with the consequences of our decision.

Blinky - my first donor I gave a basket of Aussie souvenir's and the 2nd donor a pandora ring (her birth stone).

Jodie - I'm so pleased you are investigating if immune issues are at play and seeing Dr Matthias. There seems to be a common link with women that have had a previous pregnancy which resulted in a boy which can cause immune issues for subsequent pregnancies. I'm not suggesting this has happened to you but it certainly did for me and we finally found the right treatment. Can I ask why you wouldn't wait for your results prior to cycling? Why rush it if it's your last time? I hope you don't mind me saying but I would strongly advise to get all your test results first and if needed you will be treated accordingly. You don't want to live with any regrets later if something is found and you didn't go on the treatment. My greatest regret was not looking at the whole picture and playing guess work, it wasn't until I did thorough testing that we found many issues that needed treatment to calm my immune system and then I got my BFP.
