Emski -I'm so sorry. How wise you were to think through alternatives. Hopefully this will be a totally different process for you - it certainly was for me when my donor produced 15 eggs and they all fertilised - it blew my mind after my own disastrous cycles.

Blinky, good luck choosing your donor. We definitely went for the donor first, clinic second. Couldn't get her the first two times she donated because of timing, but we were given first option for her when she decided to donate again and it was meant to be.

BB4me - I was so nervous for you with those pains but now I can say

CONGRATS!!! I'm so happy for you. I cried over your loss in June (so close to home for me - our transfer was July 1) and so I'm so delighted for you now. Try to relax! xx.

Just got back from my specialist, he is awesome and has organised my bloods, scans and meds for SA.

Just shows some fs are not money hungry as he only charged a regular consult fee.

    Feeling very excited now.

Congrats Angelmama, thats a good thing - my FS has offered the same.
Can anyone advise if there is a CFC doctor who is more likely to be the best for those with immune issues such as high NK cells... is it only one Dr who offers intripalids there? If so, who is the best to go with? I've had initial contact with Dr Le Roux, but will change if needed!

Someone here said their fs charged. I emailed dr le roux but I decided to stick with dr Matebese because I had a lot of correspondence with her.

Emski - Dr Le Roux is fantastic. I don't think any of the CFC Drs believe in the NKC protocol, but they will support whatever protocol your FS here in Australia prescribes for you for NKC's and organise an intralipid infusion for you when you are in SA.

Like I've said before - Dr Le Roux is without a doubt the reason I am 16 weeks pregnant now typing this response to you. He is a kind compassionate and extremely talented Dr. I think I have said before that I could not recommend him highly enough to people.

For all of you ladies that went to Cape Town for your treatment, it seems the majority (from my reading through previous posts) of you all went to CFC, is there something I should be cautious of with regards to the other clinics?

i have also wondered have any of you ever 'compared notes' so to speak on which donor you chose?
I guess why I am asking is that we (DH & I) seem to have narrowed down our choice quite quickly and I worry that from the profiles we (everyone) are all looking at are we all picking the same few? Or am I over thinking this?

(sorry if that offends anyone )

also did any of you purposely chose a donor completely different to yourself ?
( a small part of me is considering choosing A different race from myself just so that I can't fool myself down the track to be 'finding ' similarities .... Am I crazy ??!)

    Default Choosing a donor

    Hi Blinky,

I think you'll find that we all look for different things. I have spoken to a few of the girls on the forum and been quite amazed that we are considering quite different traits. Sure there will be people who are looking at the exact same donor as you may be but probably not as likely as you think.

I am happy to chat to you about it if you wish. PM me if you need advice and we can have a chat about it.

I'm finding it tougher second time around to choose after my biochemical a few months ago but have to remind myself no matter who I choose there are still no guarantees. As height is one of my must have traits the choices narrow. Additionally I don't want a donor that looks wildly different to myself or my partner and then have to face awkward questions even though we have decided to be open from the start. My partner is less fussy he's more concerned about it working.

    Happy searching xxx

Thanks @Rainbowchaser - I'll stick with Dr Le Roux then - yes I'd be much more confident doing a similar immune protocol to my last cycle (which was the second attempt with this protocol and the only time I've ever had a BFP). My NKC uterine test came back at 16% and I've also tested positive for heterozygous MTHFR gene - which I'm not really sure what that means until I see my FS).

I was on 10mg prednisolone daily for the whole cycle, doryx antibiotics until EPU (so was DH), then Clexane daily from the day prior to ET, then Crinone at night (I might ask to use this too as I'm used to it). I might also ask for an intripalid treatment at CFC too - if I ( )get a BFP - I'll pre-book a couple of appointments here with Dr Lolgatis once I have my vague time frame for treatment so that I have that option open for a follow up intripalid treatment in Melb - getting ahead of myself but he is also an OB so I could cover two bases there! Did you end up having the second intripalid treatment in Australia when you got back?

I'm getting a bit excited now - DH not so much, but he's super busy with work, whereas I'm on a week off so am watching movies and spending waaay too much time on bubhub and going through the earlier threads. I'm hoping we can sit down on the weekend and talk through a few things as he doesn't really know how the process works... I think I might just go to him with a short list of donors after discussing what is important to us both and seeing when we can get the initial funds together for the agency fee and CFC deposit (the rest is paid when you're actually there right?).

Still waiting on my FS to send through the necessary test results so I can forward them on to CFC. They can be a bit slack... I have a few of them here I think but I don't completely understand all the lingo so would just rather wait for her to give me the right ones.

Anyway have babbled enough for one day... am actually thinking I'd like to go earlier than late March - getting impatient now!

    Em x
