Sunny - I'm sorry for all you and your hubby have gone through. A cleft lip is a cosmetic operation these days and barely noticeable afterwards.

All of us who have taken prednisone and who have fallen pregnant whilst taking it are at an increased risk of having a baby with a cleft lip or palette... But from today's medical advances they can be overcome. Now get to it and change your signature 'cause you are havin' a baby!!!!!

    Hi everyone
Transfer went well. Thaw was at 100 and 95% though they didn't tell me what grades they were to begin with. The lady who came here before me said she didn't get thaw rates just grades so my progesterone loaded mind has partially convinced me they didn't give the grades because they are bad ones doomed to failure.

A rooster here keeps waking me up early in the morning along with the prednisolone and that is probably not helping. just went and had a rather intense reiki treatment and am now sitting in an air conditioned internet café blowing the mind of a scientist here. I've now added his email to my list of people who want to know how I go!

Am going back for a late lunch and after a nanna nap shall head to the beach. Hope everyone is going well. Sunny and laned thinking of you particularly. Glad to see it is just a cleft.

Much love to all, wanting to hear from Donna as well!

Emski - I have chosen Dr Le Roux but apparently he isn't taking any new patients until the 27th Jan... I can only presume that's because of closures over Christmas??
I have asked if the donors initial consult could be with someone else so that we can move things along but I'm not holding my breath...
It's frustrating because I know that will mean that by the time all the testing has been done and a treatment plan is written up I will only have about a month? To get flights and accommodation = expensive . The bad alternative is that we won't be able to do the cycle as planned in March-April and have to do it later in the year... But that will be difficult to get leave from work

Hi Blinky - I'm with him too and am aiming for the last two weeks in March - I'm sure he would tell you if it was an issue - I assume you put your dates on the request for treatment form for CFC. In all my correspondence to him I've kept saying the dates (not even knowing they were closed over Xmas) I think you'll be right - if you're really worried just email him and ask... they seem to know what they are doing though. We are just used to Australian fertility specialists who don't seem to give a hoot about their patients half the time...

Sunny - so glad you came in with an update - I know it must still be upsetting for you and your DH that your little one has a cleft palate but I am glad it is something manageable and not life threatening. May the rest of your pregnancy be so boringly textbook...

Net, congratulations on being PUPO! Sounds like you have some good ones on board... stop being pessimistic! When do you fly back to Aus?

Abundance how are you going love?

Not much happening here - just completing the paperwork for CFC. I also need to have some of the tests repeated as they are out of date. Can anyone advise, I need an pelvic ultrasound done (which seems ridiculous as I've had about 15 in the last 2 months) can my GP just do a referral for that? Poor DH has to do his semen analysis again as my FS doesn't have the result from the one he did in May... god knows why... when I sympathised with him he said 'it's ok I have to j*zz in a jar a few times in Cape Town too so one more here isn't going to faze me!'

I hope everyone is having a good weekend - the Xmas craziness seems to have started!
    Em x

Is it easy to drive yourself around Cape Town or is it quite busy and I would be better catching taxis or walking?

    Opinions please!

Anyone have any recommendations for clinics in Cape Town other than CFC?

It seems despite my best efforts that they are just too busy for new patients.

For anyone planning a March date cycle you may find that it will be pushed back to later in the year with CFC . Unfortunately for us we can only take specific time off and DrLR is saying based on current timeframes for an initial appointment that it isn't likely to be possible.

They say patience is a virtue but in infertility sometimes waiting just erodes the soul of hope

Going to look into other doctors/clinics to see if we have other options.

Have you thought of using another dr there? We have been corresponding with dr Matebese and so far has been excellent.

I had suggested to Dr LR about this suggesting the initial testing be done by someone else and then transferred to him once he was back at work but he implied Dr Heylen, the psychologist etc were all not taking new patients/new cycles until February.

My initial response from CFC was from Dr Matabese but because of all the rave reviews for Dr LR we had decided to go with him. I might look into Dr M's waiting times. Thnx
