Having said that, the pills could have been in the pie or chip bag and she'd still have every right to sue. Just because she was eating dodgy food doesn't mean she has no case. I guess I'm just a little surprised at her food choice.

Who knows her reasons for choosing the chicken roll to eat but regardless of what she chose & where she chose it from shouldnt we all expect our foods to not be laced with tablets & capsules

I think regardless of her food choice there are grounds to sue. Pills and plastic inside a sandwich speaks of extremely negligent food practices IMO. But the fact that it was medication or drugs of some sort would be extremely stressful for a pregnant woman or anyone else.

The only compo i think she should get is the cost of medical and maybe some for the anxiety
I wouldn't have chosen that, I'm dying for a subway melt right now. It probably wasn't handled as well as it should of been but unless the servo makes the rolls themselves I can't see how they are to blame.
We sold two types of chicken rolls, both prepackaged, one was the frozen type you heat up in the microwave (while not healthy it's not a listeria risk either), the other type was fresh chicken and salad that is usually frozen until it's defrosted in the fridge and sold cold (and the date is written on them to make sure they are safe). I probably wouldn't eat the second kind cold while pregnant (and I can't imagine it would be that nice heated, but you never know, this lady might have heated something like that up to make it safe to eat).
After the bodily autonomy outrage in the Zoe's law thread I'm surprised so many are judging this lady for eating a roll bought at a service station (who are actually pretty careful about food handling, I was always doing courses and we didn't even make the food).
On another note, if someone had found something like that in a roll from work we'd take that very seriously (although I'd be inclined to blame the food company not the Bp since they don't personally make the food. Either way something pretty dodgy is going on).
I hope the woman and her Bub is ok, that would be so scary
