    Default Meal Planning Ideas

For those of you who weekly or fortnightly meal plan, hit me up with some examples of your plans for evening meals....

I've gotta start being more organized, & also better at budgeting for groceries instead of buying stuff adhoc.

I tried to sit down & meal plan for the fortnight in order to do a shop --- & I can't think of more than 8 meals to cook!!!

    So what's yours look like?

Subbing! I think of awesome things to make, but once I get home from work I just can't be bothered so go for the boring mince or chicken dishes. I need more inspiration.

Our menu varies enormously. Some weeks are fairly plain (meat and 3 veg), sometimes more exotic... depends how much time and energy I have lol.

Here's some things you could include:
soups (pumpkin, leek and potato, minestrone, laksa)
    curries (Indian, Thai etc)
    stirfrys
    roasts
salads (Thai beef, potato salad, roast veg & greens salad etc etc)
mince meals (meatballs, spag bog, sausage rolls, shepherd's pie)
Meat & 3 veg (homemade nuggets, corned beef, sausages, chops, etc)
Noodle & rice dishes (chow mein, risotto, fried rice etc)

I did our fortnight's shop today and this is what I bought for:

    - Homemade sausage rolls (packed with veg) with potato wedges
    - Chicken, bacon, sundried tomato & camembert risotto with salad
    - Sausages with potato bake & veg bake
    - Sundried tomato and mince (packed with veg) pasta bake with garlic bread
    - Devilled sausages with mash and veg
    - Chicken and cherry tomato pasta with basil pesto sauce
    - Seasoned chicken drumsticks with roast veg
    - Spinach & bacon quiche with wedges and salad
    - Spaghetti bolognese (packed with veg) and garlic bread
    - Honey mustard chicken pastry cups with roast veg
    - Savoury mince & beans with mash and veg
    - Potato and spinach gnocchi with creamy sundried tomato sauce
    - Bean tacos with salad
    - Buffalo wings with salad and fried rice
    - Steak with potato bake and salad

This is more than a fortnight's meals because we'll try to do smaller shops with xmas approaching and a few of those meals/sides will also have enough left for the next night (pastas, potato bake, fried rice, risotto) but that gives you an idea as everything was planned with bulk buying meats etc.

    Hi girls.

I do a weekly menu and a weekly shop. Usually I sit down Sunday night with DH and figure out my week ahead....eg busy days where I don't get a chance to do something interesting.
I attempt to make 2 new meals a week and if they are winners I print out the recipe and put it in a recipe folder along with my other favourites.
I have an easy night once a week which usually consists of scrambled eggs or leftovers or toasted sandwiches etc
And Sunday night is usually roast night

This week was a bit of a shamble because I've been in hospital, so nothing really new or adventurous on it but it was
    Mon - qld
    Tues - steak and veg
    Weds- home made enchiladas
    Thurs- lasagna
Frid- fried rice with rice paper rolls
    Saturday - easy
    Sun - roast beef

I also choose three snacks to make to keep in the fridge so this week they are
    Kiwi, line and coconut muffins
    Zucchini slice
    Corn fritters

I go through each recipe and write my shopping list putting a ? Next to anything I'm not sure if I have or not and then I go and check once it's all done and cross it off if I have it.

My menu is laminated and put up on the wall.

DH, Me and our two boys.
    Lost our little squirt 20/11/13.

Otherwise recipe websites are great and theres been some great threads on bub hub too.

I try and keep the meals fairly simple but yummy and healthy.

I do it weekly, and usually plan 6 evening meals. This allows for leftovers, going to a friend's place, or a whatever's-in-the-cupboard night. I usually start with whatever we need to use up, or what I know is cheap at the time. Then plan multiple meals for things which will have excess eg. a whole cabbage.

    This week is/was:
Sun - buckwheat noodles with sh|takes & bok choy (needed using)
Mon - lamb korma (was in the freezer) with spinach (MIL gave us some) & roast potatoes (potatoes needed using)
Tues - daal (was in the freezer) with spinach (again, MIL) & rice
Wed - lentil burgers (had heaps in the freezer) & honey mustard broccoli (had heaps of broccoli)
    Thurs - roast tomato pasta
Fri - frozen fish with chips & salad (again, potatoes needed using)
Sat- will be stir fry (have zucchinis and broccoli that need to be eaten)

    Edit: apparently ****akes are vulgar...

Some regular meals in our rotation include:

    Home made sausage rolls
    Chicken & vege stir fry
Thai green or red curry chicken
Savoury mince with mashed potato baked on top
    Tomato & bacon baked gnocchi
    Slow cooker beef vindaloo
    Beef & bean tacos
    Portuguese chicken burgers & chips
    Spaghetti Bolognese
    Gourmet sausages

I've been on Pinterest a lot lately and I tend to try at least 1 new recipe off there a week.
