    I take the combined pill, Diane 35. Aside from when we were trying to get pregnant or when I was actually pregnant, I have taken it for about 12 years. My only side effect is that it makes my hair quite thin. It is a higher estrogen pill than most, so not every one can tolerate it. Funnily enough I've attempted to take the lower dose pills over the years, but they all make me bloated & nauseous.

    Zoely says it starts working if you start on the first day of your cycle if you have not been using any other hormonal contraceptive BUT I still used condoms the first month to be extra sure.
