For the record, I am absolutely, 100% pro-choice. Even if that means a late term abortion at 37 weeks. I don't understand it, it's nothing something that I would do, and I wish that it didn't happen and I do find it abhorrent. However, I cannot be pro-choice but... I cannot start to place conditions on when an abortion is okay and when it is not. I just can't.

I admit, it's confusing, it makes perfect sense in my mind, I'm just not conveying it very well due to illness and tiredness!

The point was is that it was viewed as taking a life.....not about the punishment according to the law at the time - thats irrelevant.

If you cause a death because of a car accident, even today , are u not liable? Or two men are fighting and a child gets in the way and is injured or killed, is no one to blame?

The bible doesnt say accident. It just says two men fighting or quarreling. So obviously intentional harm would too have been viewed as murder.

...yes, I think what the bible has to say is irrelevant in this conversation.

A whole other thread could be made about the interpretation of that one verse.

But unless you are going to stick with the "eye for an eye, life for a life" ...then ofcourse there is no relevance to this thread, let alone current laws.

    No, you did.

I assumed that was the passage you were referring to...if you were referring to another passage, let me know.

I was once pro-life, to the point that I would have cut-off family members if ever they had a termination to my knowledge. But even then, rape was my exception. I figured that forcing a woman to go through a pregnancy she didn't want that resulted in sexual activity she didn't want either is just all kinds of wrong.

So while I *get* pro-lifers (even though I strongly disagree with their viewpoints), I will NEVER understand a pro-lifer who doesn't even consider rape as an exception.

SoThisIsLove... Go back a few more posts, and see who brought "the bible/god etc" into the conversation.

I can tell you it wasn't me.

You bought the bibles view of the unborn into it.

Eta all I initially said was my religious views and belief in God have shaped my beliefs. Another poster bought the bible into it if we want to get technical!

    Anyway....
