Even though I had only just had pre conception tests a little while ago they wanted to check everything.

The optional Thalassaemia test is now highly recommended according to my GP because it's become more common. (It's the disease when your blood pallets are the wrong shape. They test if you are a carrier because apparently a lot more of the population is)

I also had to have an extra test to check if I am a carrier of cystic fibrosis since DH's cousin has cf.

They didn't offer me anything to drink afterwards but I think that's because I told them I was fine. I did drop by Coles and buy a bottle of oj though!

I have to tell you guys how I told my mum and sis I am pregnant! They came over the other night (after I got my BFPs) and I gave them each an early Xmas prezzie and card. The card said dear grandma/aunty I can't wait to meet you July/aug 2014. And the prezzie was two newborn socks, one blue and one pink.

It took my mum a minute to register when she read the card. My sis didn't get it because she skipped the dear aunty part! But when my mum realised she burst into tears and gave me the biggest hug. This will be the first grandchild on both sides

Oh coco that's so cute. I'm looking forward to announcing it all in a cool way.
I thought about giving everyone in mine and my partners family a photo of me with a big protest sign saying "the end is nigh, I'm having a baby" and my partner can look freaked out ( due to the moods etc to come) haha that suits my humor.

Such a well thought out idea! I just blurted it out to our families. I'm remembering the moments now, and their joy, DD was the first on both sides too! I can't wait to get that all over again.

This time I'm buying DD a t-shirt that says big sister on it and putting it on her on Christmas Day and letting our families work it out.

What did everyone else do the first time (for those seasoned yummy mummies)

I thought I'd keep it quiet but I've already told a handful of people. My theory is that if things go wrong I'd like them to be there. And if things go right they get to share in my journey from the get go!

I had prepared a card and prezzie for the in laws (we're seeing them on Saturday) but bless DH he called them today as soon as I got the confirmation from the GP because he 'had to tell someone'. I'm glad he did though. I got to talk to my mil today and she was over the moon! (It had taken her almost 13 years to conceive DH and she was so sensitive on the issue she never wanted to ask us if we were planning to TTC). She was talking about how wonderful it will be to hold her grandchild. Made me a little teary.

My sis who has just turned 19 has said she will now start saving because it's her job to spoil the lo.

I love having family around me share the joy, so I'm glad we spilled the beans.
